The crazy thing is Hong Kong is such a small city with highly efficient and well connect public transport network, there isn't really a need to drive. You would think small prestige cars will be the most popular choice but the E-class almost out sell the C-class by 3:1.

It's probably because cars are so expensive in HK, it's more 'sensible' to go for a prestige brand.

Same for Singapore; premium brands (MB, BMW) now hold more than 60-70% of the market. Outselling even Toyota.

Hong Kong is officially recognized as part of China, but it is being treated like a special state, with its own chief executive. It gets a little confusing, but to be elected as the chief executive, three candidate are selected by the Hong Kong locals, but it is up to the government in China to select the person they want out of the three. People from China still need to obtain a special travel visa to visit Hong Kong, and the people from Hong Kong will have to do the same to visit China.
