How is it possible that BMW sell more cars than Mercedes? Correct me if Im wrong but doesn't Mercedes offer more different models and also perhaps more engine choices than BMW but still BMW mangage to sell more cars. Weird!
MB cars are on average more expensive. Also when it comes to sales of 'High End' luxury vehicles, Mercedes is still the market leader.I'm thinking its to do with pricing.MB cars are on average more expensive. I dont think price is the whole truth, both MB and 'BMW has expensive cars and the price difference isnt giant, not where I live anyway. MB has sold more cars than bmw for many many years even if they costed more.
I think more it has to do that the bmw brand has gotten stronger and very well planned markeeting.
BMW Group unofficial numbers added! Officail press release with all details follows tomorrow.Official numbers will stay almost the same as the ones posted above.
That is just awesome. I wonder if they can break the one million barrier already in 2008?

Hehe...Tycoon..no they didn't. They sold just over 905 000 this year global. 76 000 more then the year before. They broke it long time ago and 2006 as well... Are you missing something or...?
P.S. Oops! I quotes the wrong post. I meant Audi of course!

I think all of the 3 luxury marques will achieve successesive sales records within the next few years. The market for prestige vehicles will continue growing, especially with the increasing demand for these types of cars in booming China and India.
I'm going to stick my neck out of the window and go against what everone here is supporting: to be the number 1 sales leader. I think this can be a bad thing for luxury goods such as cars because it compromises exclusitivity. If a premium-manufacturing company becomes so fixated on sales leadership, don't they risk the possibility of cheapening their brand because it's absolutely everywhere?
One of the core reasons why these brands are regarded as "prestige" is beacuse of their exclusitivity, along with their quality and engineering integrity. A focus on sales increase/leadership is the ultimate threat to destroying that.
I know that Ferrari and Lamborghini are taking steps to maintain "exclusitivity" of their products.
These german manufacturers should follow some very good marketing and brand management methods to preserve their brand if they're going to strive for sales leadership.
