Discuss Germany's Big 3 - EV Plans

So I've been having a very hard time keeping track of the EV plans of the Germans. I thought it would perhaps be a nice idea to list the known/rumoured EV vehicles and their launch dates within 1
thread.

I'm really only partially up to speed with Mercedes, and even then some of my information would be wrong, so perhaps we could just cut, paste and update the list with each new post?

BMW's road map for the short term...

VW has the ID.3 and upcoming ID.4, the larger ID.6 is supposedly only for china, maybe this will change. I would imagine we'd see an ID.2 and there is also that Passat sized sedan that is supposed to be coming, not sure if confirmed.

Great idea. I look forward to the EQA, small BEVs are currently under represented. Hopefully the short wheelbase won't result in an electric range that's well below 200miles.

... and there is also that Passat sized sedan that is supposed to be coming, not sure if confirmed.

Confirmed and currently designated as the "Aero" and to be produced at VWs' Emden, Germany plant as well as in China and possibly the U.S. or Mexico.. Also recently confirmed is a larger (exterior dimensions somewhere between M-B EQE and EQS) MEBevo underpinned luxury car which will be manufactured at VWs' main production facility in Wolfburg, Germany. This car is scheduled for presentation sometime in 2025/26.

Now that I think of it, I think MB's strategy may be quite a good one. They are keeping the traditional S, E and C with a paired back MBUX to cater to the more traditional ICE buyer and they are introducing EV equivilants with the boundary pushing full digitial MBUX interface as these buyers would likely be more accepting/excited by this solution.

The list is getting better. Please post additional information if you know of any and I'll update it.

BMW iX3 is missing from the list, deliveries start later this year.

I'm not sure about VW, the e-Golf is still listed for sale, the e-Up says not available to order in the UK (Though the electric SEAT Mii seems to be available)... I don't know about other markets. Based I guess in the ID3/ID4, Skoda will have the Enyaq, and Seat will have the el Born (?).

Have the VAG Audi/Porsche developed PPE "Landjet/Artemis" luxury entries been included (beginning in 2024 with the Audi project "Landjet" aka "A9 eTron (MY 2024/25), followed by luxury PPE entries by Porsche and Bentley) ? First PPE entry will tentatively be the Porsche e-Macan-followed by Audis' Q6 eTron sister car (as of model years 2022/23). A5 Sportback-sized PPE-based code "e5 aka GTS" sedoupe will follow shortly afterwards. Bentley Continental GT and Flying Spur successors will also be PPE-underpinned cars (beginning MY 2026 (projected).

The 'edit' option for my first post seems to have disappeared now.

I think the list now reflects the most recent posts.

The first customer units of the iX3 has already arrived in Europe, so deliveries are starting right now and not late 2021 (at least for Europe, in China the deliveries has already started, in the US it won't be sold and I don't know for the rest of the world).

Volkswagen and Audi are starting to challenge Tesla

Volkswagen (VLKAF) sold 231,600 battery electric vehicles in 2020, according to figures published by the company on Wednesday. While that's still less than half the number of sales Tesla (TSLA) made, it represents an increase of 214% on the previous year and shows Germany's huge auto industry is beginning to mount a challenge to the leader in electric cars.
"We are well on track to achieve our aim of becoming the market leader in battery electric vehicles," Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said in a statement on Tuesday.
Volkswagen's most popular battery electric vehicle was the new ID.3, which sold 56,500 units. Sales of the compact e-Golf and even smaller e-up! were 41,300 and 22,200, respectively. Audi, the group's luxury brand, sold 47,300 e-tron SUV and sportback models, while customers purchased 20,000 electric Porsche Taycans.

VAG beat Tesla in Norway last year. https://ofv.no/registreringsstatistikk

Between ID.3 and E-tron they sold 16981 units, Model 3 sold 7770.

Been sitting inside the ID3 few days ago, materials are so cheap, its disgusting for a VW.

I'll book a test drive soon.

I hope to do the same as soon as this damned COVID-19 lockdown is over. Still find myself leaning more towards the ID 4 and Skoda Enyaq, which I also hope to test drive in the not too distant future. But the ID 3 is admittedly growing on me and they are becoming frequent sightings in my particular area.
