X6 First Details Emerge On BMWs Next X6


The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof).

I don't understand why BMW has this lack of imagination lately...

Makes poor facelifts,brings new models that are 80% similar with the ones in the similar categories(X3-X5-now X6, 3 series-5series, i8 interior 90% similar with all the models)...

6 years since E71,and all they bring is a "facelift", as far as I can see it...

What you are meaning with "poor facelifts"? Minimal facelifts? Maybe minimal facelifts are enough because the basic is consistend with beginning of the production.
 
Disappointingly it doesn't have smooth and curvy headlights but instead, they are boxy and less exotic like on the X3.

yea' right...

We will see about the new X6…I believe 90% will be as rendered….and by that I mean a very small update FOR A NEW MODEL

By the way,I own an X6,very pleased with it.Looking forward for an update,but after all these news...
 
^ X6 will be all new and when you see it next to the old X6 you will see major differences in proportions and dimensions. It's not just a facelift...

You don't have to like it, but it's different alright ;)
 
That's a rather aggressive looking nose. I like it.

It's basically F15 X5's nose ... slightly modified for a bit more aggressive look. Same goes for the interior - some sporty touches are added here and there. Minor things though.

Regarding X4 ... it will share the headlight design with the X3 LCI. The cluster shape will be identical to the one of X4 Concept - yet the graphics will be more conventional. Also the X4 nose will be slightly modified X3 LCI's nose - to add a bit more aggression to the looks. Interior will be an upgraded X3 interior (it will also be featured in X3 LCI).

X6 & X4 will share the basic shape / silhouette, similar rear design & the broken shoulder line above the rear wheel arch. Due to smaller dimensions the X4 looks more compact & intense, while X6 looks more elegant & upscale (cleaner less complicated lines), stretched yet still bulky due to bigger dimensions - and therefore oozing more presence. It also looks more aggressive due to pointy shark nose tip which X3/X4 does lack.

So, X4 will indeed be sort of mini X6. And that's the whole point: offering a more affordable SAC. It's actually a product for those who are suckers for SACs but can't afford (or don't need such big vehicle) an X6.

I think it is a big mistake to do part sharing between the front ends of both the X3 and X4, and the X5 and X6. The front is always the most distinctive part of the car, and differentiate the SAC just by the rear end and the side profile is a bit too much IMO.

I hope this time the X6 and X5 costs the same, the there are no bigger differences between them than between a 5er Sedan and a 5er Touring.

E70 X5M & E71 X6M share the front end - incl the headlights. Identical fronts.
Regular E70 X5 & E71 X6 have VERY similar fronts. The hood is the same, headlights very similar, yet bumper is different but still similar. Etc. Not much differences either.

And mind again: the front X3 vs X4 ; X5 vs X6 will not be 100% identical. But very similar. Yet the main parts will be shared indeed.

Regarding the pricing ... It will be steep until the demand is there. Sure in some cases the premium pricing is not justified ... But if the demand is there, why ditch the premium? It's still a niche product though - not everybody's darling. And some markets see no point or less point in such products (eg. US market) - since usually large, bulky SAVs / SUVs are percieved as utility vehicles and therefore reduced practicality is a total deal breaker for many. While in some markets (eg in Europe, Asia etc ) SUVs / SAVs and even more SACs are more a status symbol. While wagons, vans & crossovers usually play a rol of utilitarian (familar) vehicles.
