There are a whole series of more or less important design awards, but without doubt belong to the red dot design award, the iF Gold Award and the Design Award of Germany may be the most prestigious awards of its kind since yesterday, the BMW F11 boasts 5 Series Touring in the current generation to to have won all three titles: the iF Gold Award 2011 and the Red Dot Best of the Best Award 2011, the luxurious combination was now the design award in Germany in 2012.

In recent years already, the BMW 5 Series Sedan F10 Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2011 in silver, 2009, the BMW HP2 Sport Motorcycle Sport also took the title. Kinetic sculpture at the BMW Museum in Munich in 2011 even won the Design Award of the FRG in gold.

Could also be at the red dot Design Award 2011 BMW a few months ago retract several awards: In addition to the 5 Series Touring, the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the BMW X3 F12 F25 received the award for particularly high quality design. At that time, Adrian van Hooydonk said (Senior Vice President of BMW Group Design): “We are very happy that we could show with the BMW 5 Series Touring that functionality can be translated into an attractive design. BMW thus combines outstanding functionality with most modern aesthetic and emotional. “

The F11 is really a good looking Wagon, and this coming from a Wagon hater. I remember admiring one in Paris last year. I'll be back in the EU in a few months, so I can look again. :D

Too bad they ditched it for the abomination of Design that is the 5 GT.

I'd take an F10 over an F11. I would also take an A6 Avant over F11. Not a knock on beemer wagons, but they just don't quite work for me.

I'd never buy a Wagon over a Sedan, but I think the F11 is more impressive, considering that IMO it takes much more to make a Wagon look good than it does a Sedan.

However, of course I like the Sedan version more, in terms of which one I'd pick or find a better design by nature (Sedans>Wagons).

If it's a "Fiver" it deserves every trophy out there - BMW did wonders with car and frankly the more i see them on the roads (new F10) the more I want one - the low sporty, powerful stance and aggression in that 'face' is just cool!

I've seen the new A6 Avant a couple of times on the road too now. It's very nice as well, though I do like the 5er Touring more this time around (last time the 5er Touring wasn't so pretty). The A6 is kind of boring and just too much like the previous gen....

At the moment without actually seeing the F11 in the flesh I much prefer the A6 Avant and this option has been true through all generations of each, maybe this time round thing will change but based on pass history I doubt it.

P.S.
And before Klier makes the comment..... of course I am bias. :eusa_doh:

F11 is popular in Sweden and A6 Avant seem to be growing in sales here. The front is the best part with the car and might be best in class but unfortuanly the rest of the car do not flow as well as F11. But I prefer A6 Avant to E-class T. :)
