We’re expecting the new 7 Series to have a completely new front end, similar to the 6-Series styling, and sources say the current model’s extravagant design will be toned down quite a bit. In addition, we’re anticipating the sedan to have an even more elegant look than ever before.

The position of the headlights and turn signals indicate low mounted wrap-around headlights and a wide grille, as well as a sleeker body and a more elegant overall appearance. Seen in these photos, the prototype is riding low as the top of the tire tucks into the top of the wheel arches. We can also see the exposed exhaust pipe tips coming through the bumper fascia unlike the current model.

In addition to the exterior updates, BMW will be introducing a new iDrive and, rumour has it, an eight-speed transmission. The new 7-Series is not expected to be released until sometime during the 2008 calendar year, and will arrive as a 2009 model.

Eni: is this the LWB or SWB ? it looks like the LWB. OMG I can't wait for this to be tested against the Maserati QP. One more thing, will we see the CS concept Shoulder line on the F01. Especially the rear thing

Is there any info on the panorama roof?

S class has it, and it looks pretty cool, it would be nice to have it as an option in 7er, don't you think?

Something similar like in the case of W220 vs E65, when E65 debuted.

INDEED... Every 7er model has been the showcase for BMW technology - The first V12 in the E32 . And the new one will not be different with significant patents in engineering , comfort , technology and multimedia.
Or as the head of product development says he wants to Maybachize the S-Klasse ( Make it irrelevant compared to it's rival)

BMW are especially aiming to surpass 7er sales in the market where the car really took off... E65 sales rocketed furthest in the Asian markets.

Remember 7er will be the middle part of the BMW bridge to Rolls-Royce joined by the RFK F5 at the beginning and at the end the production CS Coupe.

Californian Law Enforcement have asked us and every other manufacturer to pass details of individuals who chase prototypes at speed with camera phones etc hanging out the window whilst one hand is on the wheel. Because of the advent of YouTube etc these spy videos are certainly interesting to them because they are evidence of bad driving , speeding etc... and now the state of California want convictions especially since two individuals chasing a Merc prototype caused a bad accident.

I think panoramic roof should be an option. The options are one of the things that has made the S-class so successful. Who knows BMW might want to offer a carbon fiber roof instead of a panoramic one.

Sure, I'll correct you. BMW already has a panoramic roof on quite a few models.

Really? Which ones? I've never seen a BMW with a pano roof.

I know Audi has pano on the A3, not clear about any of the other GCs. Pretty sure the E-Klasse has it as an option...

I know Audi has pano on the A3, not clear about any of the other GCs. Pretty sure the E-Klasse has it as an option...

BMW 5 and M5 series wagon has option of panoramic roof, at least that's what we have in Europe.

l disagree whit carbon roof on 7er, even M5 doesen't have it, it would kill the exclusivity of the car, mixing the stiles like that..

Panoramic roof should defenitly be an option in next 7er gen., lt's a great feeling, especially in the night, when you open it, and see a star sky trough the roof and you are driving in a big and heavy limousine.

Klier: Yeah right. But BMWs pano roof is like an enlarged sunroof with still many parts of the roof are steele/alu or whatever. while in MBs case, its like the entire roof is made of glass.
