• Biggest increase in the U.S (+25%), Europe (+9.6%), China (+6.3%), Sweden (+12.3%)
• XC90 fastest growing model.
• XC60 still the most sold model (73.817 cars), 2nd place S40/XC40 (48.670), 3rd place XC90 (43.911)
• V70/XC70, taken out of production in April/May, still sold 29.747 cars. S80 is pretty much dead.

Interesting figures. I tend to think, that Volvo is making rather a lot of Km's also because of it's build quality. The car itself is often old and still in good in shape. Some brands fall a part before they reach these kind of Km numbers. I've read somewhere the avarage Volvo reaches an age of 19 years.

Also interesting to note that Volvo hardly sells any sedans @Mick Briesgau. Lets see if the S90 can make a dent.

But they are also pretty complicated nowadays with hybrid drivetrains and lots of tech. Should have some influence on longevity at least.

In Europe at least hardly any sedans @klier, that's right. I predict very little amount of sedans S90 for the German market: they're estate/stationcar/kombi-minded and if they want a sedan this size , your average German usually takes a sedan of the big three.
In Holland however I'm not so sure. The S90 could have some real chances. It's been a long time since Volvo offered a large, luxury sedan, which in this case also has the looks (imo). I also think the S90 will be priced more friendly than the Germans (well specced). This is the case in Germany. I specced a S90 and a E220d more or less the same, and the price difference was circa € 15.000 in favour of the S90.

Quality is already suffering, if we may believe a recent J.D. Power report. The quality of new cars within the first 90 days after sale where investigated. It was based on the amount of defects/shortcommings per 100 cars. Volvo scored a terrible 151 per 100 and reached a 31st place, just above Fiat and Smart. Median was 105 (BMW 94/Mercedes-Benz 111).

Scandicsteel.blogspot explained it as thus: XC90 is a very popular car. To meet the demand, the factory produced at it's limit and Volvo had to employ new, unexperienced people. Last year Scandicsteel also reported squeekes, rattles and other noises in XC90's, which is not typical Volvo.

Volvo is still the best selling brand in Sweden. Saab was always second but they dont exist no more so volvo is ahead with a boom.

XC90's are also everywhere in the suburbs surrounding NYC. Equivalent or better quality, technology, space, and looks than the German and Japanese competition - for a lower average MSRP. Volvo's esteemed safety reputation also attracts loyal and new clientele.

Someone please explain these numbers to me.
What do you mean "brand makes the most KMs on average"? Are you saying that Volvo cars (all models) on average drive over 400,000km with gas engines and over 680,000km with diesel engines? Or are these only the top 100 cars with the most kms? What is the sample size? and how do they define on average? What span of time/years are we talking about here?
