In the world of extreme supercars, names like Bugatti, Koenigsegg or Pagani are instantly recognized and respected. A name you could not have thought about though is Shayton, a new Slovenian brand that plans to build a supercar, one that would “sweep the competition”, as its overly optimistic press release reads. You have to admit this is a pretty ambitious claim for a company that hasn't actually built a car.

The name Shayton means "falcon" in Sioux Indian, one of the most feared birds of prey that is also the company's logo. Their sports coupe is called the Equilibrium and will have a price tag of over €1,000,000 ($1.39 million). The Slovenian Zonda-wannabe will be powered by a V12 engine capable of 1,084 horsepower and 930 Nm of torque (686 lb-ft) at 5,000 rpm.

Thanks to the extensive use of aluminium, carbon fiber and titanium, the car is said to have a dry weight of 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs) and a power-to-weight ratio of 1.42 kg/hp. In theory, Shayton reckons the Equilibrium should be able to reach a top speed of over 400 km/h (249 mph) and cover the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and to 200 km/h in only 8.5 seconds. Very ambitious endeavors indeed.

The aggressive lines of the Equilibrium are the work of local designer Andrej Stanta.

The company plans to build around 20 cars a year, but first of all it needs to raise money in order to make a prototype, since what you see here are renderings. This is the first phase of the project right now.

Only time will tell if we'll have a new exotic car maker or if the Equilibrium project will remain only on paper. We wish them good luck.
