Reportedly produces 600 bhp (447 kW)
EKS has unveiled their Audi S1 which will compete in the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Set to be driven by Mattias Ekstrom and Pontus Tidemand, the model will reportedly feature an all-wheel drive system and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 600 bhp (447 kW). This should enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds which is 3.9 seconds faster than the standard car can accelerate from 0-62 mph.

Additional information will be released next month but Ekstrom said “This year our plans are to complete as much research and development of the car that we can for the future. Our goal is of course to build the best car."

FIA World Rallycross Championship Audi A1 by Larsson Jernberg Motorsport Confirmed

The opening round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship is this coming weekend in Portugal and we’re now able to confirm a second Audi team that will take part. Professional touring car driver Robin Larsson has helped form the Larsson Jernberg Racing team that is set to field an Audi A1 in a mix of FIA World Rallycross Championship and other Scandinavian events.

The 21-year old Swedish driver is the foundation of the team, though he can also call on a wealth of experience from his father, 2006 and 2007 champion Lars Larsson. To form the team, the pair is also joined by driver/car builder Michael Jernberg. Finally, well-known builder Ingvar Gunarsson will also take part in the building of the new Audi.

The Audi A1 will make use of known tuners and components in order to keep development time to a minimum. Engine tuning will be performed by Trollspeed who is familiar with Audi engine tuning. The transmission will be a longitudinal setup sourced from Sellholm. Suspension comes from Ohlins.

“Our goal is to run the full FIA European Rallycross Championship, and of course the Swedish round of the World championship in Holjes, and then to develop the team and progress to the World championship in the future,” said Larsson to RallyCrossworld.

The Larsson Jernberg Racing A1 is the second Audi we know of set to compete in the 2014 World Rallycross Championship. It will be joined by the Mattias Ekstrom-backed EKS RX Audi S1 announced late last week.

EKS shows off their Audi S1 in race livery

Will compete in the FIA World Rallycross Championship
Following a preview earlier this year, EKS has unveiled their new Audi S1.

Designed to compete in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, the car features an increased ride height, a massive rear wing and widened fenders. We can also see Cooper tires and a Red Bull livery.

Details will be released tomorrow but previous reports have indicated the car will be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 600 bhp (447 kW). This will reportedly enable the race car to rocket from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds which is 3.9 seconds faster than the standard S1 can accelerate from 0-62 mph.

This particular car will be driven by two-time DTM champion Mattias Ekström and the company's Facebook page suggests there could be another car for a different driver.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
