M3/M4 E92 M3 discussion thread II

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
But the Carbon roof on the M6 is not painted, it's always black!??

he means it was painted while testing maybe .. thats what I understood.

Yes this is what I meant. To disguise the Carbon Fibre reinforced roof on the prototype of the BMW M6 they painted the roof section the same color as the Body.

What's about the M3 sedan?
again these are out on the streets but I am guessing that photographers just think these are M-packet 3er's and ignoring them.

Thanks alot for the clarification!
I hope the carbon roof is a standard feature and not a cost option!? I'm anxious to see if it gets a roof antenna or not.

Best regards, south

Becks has a gift ;)

but i notice some things...

3 pictures are the same with not taped mirrows and the stearing wheel is on the left side, but if you're looking close the picture number three, it has a different numberplate and the steering wheel is on the right with taped mirrows???

Beck...if I'm correct then the covered mirror is a design cue from the E36 M3. It's not the straight forward mirror design of today...more like the E36 and F430 slotted/fin mirror so the aerodynamics are a little bit better. That's what I think anyways..may be Eni or Scot27 can help with this.

That is exactly what I have been thinking all the time. You mean something like this right:

Yep...That's exactly right Klier. If I'm correct, then BMW are testing that mirror as well just to see how the Aerodynamics work with it. Oh and I do certainly hope they bring that back because that was one of those subtle differences that told you that it's not a normal 3 series...just like how Audi does the Chromed mirror thing. I love that damn E36 mirror...so hot and haven't you noticed all the ricers putting that on their civics and such...LOL :D

a little OT:
klier, i have to say that those mirrors are so tiny that you can't see many things, or at least you have to get used to it and it takes much time!

PS. I had a great driving experience with some cool cars (530, M3, RX8) that i have to make a thread about... and that why i say this about the E36 M3 mirrors..

Nah giannis....it doesn't take much time to get used to those mirrors. I drove with them daily in california traffic...beleive me they pass the test. And i'm pretty sure that if BMW are bringing them back they'll be better than before.

Yeah, hahaha...I've noticed this too. Ricer kids really love them on their cheap little cars....You'd almost forget BMW designed them in the first place.

the mirrors of my volvo are 3 times bigger and i still can't see many things :D
But since you drive with them everyday, you must be right. I only drove a car for 15 minutes...

Some of this doesn't make sense. Logic7 is already standard on the 335i, wouldn't it also be standard on an M3?

It's BS, I'm sure BMW has finalized a lot of the pricing for the E92 already, still to early. The M double spokes will be std. as well.

i dont think the rimms will be standard..there was always a standard rimm and 1 option rimm for the M3.. so if the standard is 19..according to you..
then what is the optional wheel?? 20??

PS
This list is old..and the one tagged BS a while ago:D

Hey...I would stop worrying about these bogus lists. Honestly, I'll be the first one to post up anything on the new M3 when the info is available on bmw's dealernetwork. So far, nothing on the M3.

About the rim option. You're right Artist. There will always be an option for the rims. So if the standard is 19" then the option will definitely be 20". I just hope the new rims don't suck. The current ones are so damn beautiful!

A nice M3 chops which shows how the sedan might end up looking like.

those are the headlights from the coupe tho...

but i do really hope the front looks like that, because soo far from spypics, i'm not really diggin the front bumpers soo far...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
