R8 Clarkson on the R8 V10 - "the best car I have ever driven"

The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG in 2006. Production ended in the first quarter of 2024. Production: June 2006 – March 2024 (45,949 Units), Model years: 2007–2024
Heh, Clarkson :D Still blind I guess ;)

R8 V10 is a great car, but best car in the world? L.M.A.O :D Great vid though!!!!

As a complete car: V10, space-age construction, manual gearbox (for people who can drive) impeccable interior quality, sublime engine sound, ride-handling balance par excellence and half the price of a 458 Italia...

... I feel that the Audi R8 V10 could well be the single best car in the world. Possibly.

Oh Klier, fanboy-pain ;)
I think this man knows a little more then you what he is talking about ;)
He is not biased, and he's driven every car out there. So for ones, be happy for your German neighbour! ;)

Since the M3 GTS, no more fanboy pain ;) I'd rather have that car than any Audi ever built :D I'm happy for my German neighbour though. I like the fact they are doing so well and upping the game for BMW and MB

Again, lol
I could name 10 cars I'd much rather want :)
Everything about the R8 V10 is good, nothing is great. Don't go with the media hype too much.

Rather wanting something is not the same as that being better. At least not in my book.

Thanks for aimlessly bringing the dubious relevance of the M3 GTS into this discussion, klier. You've just illustrated what I feared the M3 GT3 would represent; an internet forum hero car for misguided BMW fanboys. So let me guess, this new GTS absolves BMW of their errant ways of the last 24-odd months? Because why? They've given performance back to the people? Only a very selected few actually.

Besides, I can't comprehend rather having an orange throat lozenge with ironing board on the boot than the spectacular, on-road presence of the R8 V10. Best to run your M3 GTS on the track exclusively to avoid looking like a tonsil on public roads. In an R8 V10 on the other hand - you'd have a faster, nicer to drive and far better looking car.

It's not about believing the media hype, it's about having the evidence at first hand from the most respected motoring scribes out there: Sutcliffe, Harris, Bovingdon, Catchpole, Clarkson, Needell, Plato etc... all of whom unanimously praise the R8 V10 for being the superior car it so plainly is.

The Audi R8 (both V8 and V10) is one of those special cars that makes no particular concession in one area - such as a 'Ring laptime - but rather manages to fuse together a much broader spread of usability and capability to form what is a truly well rounded performance car. It's a classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.

Clarson says that for just about every car he drives. I clearly remember him saying that the M5 was the best car he has ever driven too... he throws that phrase around so much... it don mean nuttin.

no disrespect, thats just how he is.

i heart R8

He sure did... BACK THEN, when the car came out. Then, he said that about the RS4, and surely some cars after that. But right now, he says it about this one.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
