bye bye 911 TT - hello Panamera

Warm-Up Lap
I did not expect this time to come so soon. I will be selling my car in May and picking up a Panamera 4S. I already specced the Panamera and paid the down payment. Now I wait till April/May for delivery.

The 911 turbo was my dream car and will probably remain my dream car. I cannot get enough of that turbo boost at RPMs as low as 2.9K but my wife and I are expecting. We are expecting twins and that completely takes the 911 tt out of the picture. Luckily the Panamera was released as I was dreading every minute of "checking out" other brands like the Mercedes S55 and the BMW 750. I did not mind the Maserati Quattroporte but for that price, it sure is not worth it IMO. Its nice but too plain looking, not enough performance and is due for a major upgrade soon.
The panamera , to me, is perfect.Albeit not having a 3rd seat in the back as we would like to take our maid along when needed.
Its got luxury, power (especially if you get the turbo version) and uniqueness.

Now I will enjoy every minute of my 911 tt till the panamera gets here.

Coincidentally, I owned the Cayman S for 1 year and 7 months, and I will have owned the 911 tt for also exactly 1 year and 7 months upon receiving the Panamera.

Here are the Panamera 4S specs.

Excellent specs. I expect the price came to round 550K or something. mine was 540. No exclusive options ticked.

Just over 550K.

This was all I could stuff into the car. All that was left was sport exhaust ( I prefer sound with HP gain - perhaps Techart or AWE in the future) and the rear luxury armest but that would make it a lonely for the twins and I dont like the way it looks.

I am glad that Porsche dissects a lot of their options and classify some as "Exclusive". This adds to the uniqueness and exclusivity some desire. It is also apparent that Porsche promotes exclusivity and this is clearly illustrated in pricing.

The grab handles are about $1,450 (for the set of 4) whereas the the full Yachting Mahogany interior package is for $ 2,300. The interior package includes all the wood panels except the grab handles and the steering wheel. They cost about double of the complete interior wood package. Sure the grab handles include some leather but still.
The wood in the 4 grab handles cover very little in comparison to the large panels on the main front console, rear center console and 4 door panels.

The same theory applies to the air vent slats in leather and steering column casing in leather at $ 1,000 and $555 respectively.

I visit Dubai a lot and often kayak there and would like to bike ( bicycle or motorbike ) there. I am going to use the Panamera to tow my kayak and/or future bike to Dubai and park it (panamera), then use my inlaws' or friends' cars to tow the stuff. So the tow in the panamera will only be to transport the gear. So that in the evening my wife and I can have dinner at Atlantis or Royal Mirage in the Panamera instead of a landcruiser :)

klier, I guess if being active is a "dream" , then yah lol

The rental Cayyene I got right now inspired me to get a tow system on the Panamera. I was amazed to find out (completely by chance) it had a retractable tow system. It completes vanishes when retracted. I leave it deployed while driving without the trailer. It looks so rugged and cool haha :p

having visited the UAE many times it seems to provide a lot of oppourtunities, especially to those with good foriegn degrees from good schools. I hope to maybe look for work there someday after schooling...and buy a 911GT3 :D Congrats on the panamera, not exactly my cup of tea but a very stately car nonetheless.

For some reason I missed this. Congrats on your panamera and your domestic happiness. The configuration of your Panamera is just stunning. Burmester sound system will blow you away and you need to have a photoshoot with that kind of interior choice!! We definitely need to see lots of pics…and when will your car will be delivered? Your wrote April/May, so I expect, that the Pana is already in your garage!

:t-cheers:

Saif: don't drive the new Cayenne, you will regret your purchase :D ... I Just did and I really liked the ride/power/handling.

I am having tough time forgetting how good the cayenne is :)

So the new Cayenne drives like a Panamera wagon?

Maks,You're more than welcome.holler at me when you're here.

Ree, yes I assumed ownership a couple of weeks ago. It's a stunning ride. The babies are truly a blessing. I need to get the car detailed before anything but pictures will follow soon.

Sayyaf, I've never been fond of 4x4s. But if I were to ever buy one it would definitely be a Cayenne with PDCC.

Why not sell Cayman instead? Keep 911TT.
