The Veyron really is as fast as it is ugly. The whine of the supercharger on the SLR is annoying, but it sure is easy on the eyes. Have only seen it once on the road, amazing.

It is amazing to see how the Veyron just grips and go, no dramas at all, while the SLR spins its wheels a little under full power before it can fully accelerate. I also notice the Veyron suffers from slight turbo lag before it rockets down the main straight.

Well, Veyron has awd, and a significantly larger footprint, proportionate to its power advantage over the SLR, so it will get better traction. There is no way the SLR would prevail here, its battle is lost before it starts, or very shortly after... hehe. I do notice though that the corners are taken a bit easier by the SLR, with slightly less weight. But then again, the SLR driver is not worried of piling a 1.35 million dollar machine against the rails.

For the record, the Enzo, Carrera GT, Zonda, and Murcielago would appear equally slow in the company of Veyron.

I would like to see an ME4-12 go up against the Veyron that would be sweet. Bet it would be torn up after 120.

WOW! It's always hard to picture the Veyron as stupid fast without a reference point, because there's plenty of cars that are really fast, and we can all sorta picture that in our heads. But to see the SLR appear slow in comparison is something different altogether. That's just crazy.

Brute power really makes a difference. Did they not say that Veyron could catch up to and surpass a Mclaren F1 if McLaren passed the standing-still Veyron doing 120 mph, and reach 200mph before the F1? A McLaren has the same horsepower as the SLR at a significantly lower weight, so if Veyron can humiliate the acceleration of F1 (note, purists, that I only said acceleration), SLR could not be blamed, really.

Why is it that I do not find the Bugatti to be ugly at all? Am I blinded by all that power?

I guess Veyron will have to wait for the Gullwing to really find its match.

IMO, the SLR put up a good fight...briefly. I mean, had this been an A180 CDI and an E63, you can imagine the annihilation and humiliation.

Well, this was just like an A180 vs. E63, might have as well been. I have seen a video of CL63 Vs. S550 and those cars looked shoulder to shoulder, but Veyron vs. SLR looked so blatantly goliath vs. david.

I am a benz fan through and through, but the SLR got a bloody nose. As for someone who suggested that they pit a Formila ONe car against Veyron, I have a feeling Veyron would be faster and quicker on a straight line as well.

Most F1 cars do 0-160-0 in under 5sec.
Also
0-100 in under 2sec
0-200 in under 4sec
0-300 in under 8sec.
Veyron whould not stand a chance.
The only car that I think can hang on with the Veyron for a few extra secounds is the Carrera GT.
