BMW is doing its best to raise the perception of the luxury brand, but Mercedes will always be one step ahead.

You have a brain injury and I don't feel sorry.

If BMW sustains their current design philosophy, the Alpina logo will be the best designed part of the whole car.

Yeah Mercedes fans have been saying this for decades. Completely meaningless.
But whatever makes you feel better about MB's horrible creations, right? This surely will make you feel better about your ICE dinosaur?

The typography suggest that BMW have plans for the label. Perhaps cars like the the XM could carry the Alpina instead of the M badge which is somewhat lost its exclusivity and has a watered down meaning.
I think the options are, that there will be both versions of each model as Mercedes does but BMW will retain the sporty touch of Alpina.

The intrigue is how far the "luxury" will take since something will definitely change compared to what Alpina is today
The other is if they will make bespoke models with this, or at least one that "launches" the line.

Mercedes makes fortunes just with the changed grill.
It is quite exciting to wait, sadly for this thread and with so many, instead of being able to talk about what will come, suppose or dream a little, it is immediately invaded with nonsense from the usual suspects.

It would be good for everyone to elaborate on what they think will be done with this new brand.

Sitting inside the XM this week, I was surprised by how luxurious The cabin was. It is a noticeable step above the i7 and any other M car. Unless you experience it you wouldn’t know.

That’s where a different badge make sense. E.g with Maybach you know that the car will have the nicest leather, best tech and exclusive inlays.

Alpina trims for some cars would make a lot of sense.

Yes.

BMW are planning to make ALPINA what Maybach is to MB, and Horsch is to Audi: luxo-versions of top-end models.

The next 8er, the next X7, and the 7er LCI will probably be the first models to get ALPINA luxo-versions sometimes in 2026 or later.

I guess the upcoming new B5 / D5 will be the last ALPINA as we know it.

QUOTE: "Anyone who hoped that the Bovensiepen family would also have a certain say in Alpina's future under the umbrella of the BMW Group will find out the opposite in the interview: Even if those responsible for Alpina today seem to be involved in certain votes, they apparently have none right of veto.
Andreas Bovensiepen's assessment is exciting, according to which BMW AG wants to use the Alpina brand primarily in the luxury segment, the abbreviation GKL he uses stands for the large classes 7, 8, X7 and XM. This supports our state of knowledge, which assumes a planned Alpina positioning in the sense of a "sporty Maybach interpretation" with a lot of power, but also a high demand for comfort."

My biggest intrigues are two:

How will they face or what will they do with the smaller models such as the B3, B5, etc, which are a positive differential IMO, against Maybach and against any other brand of that level, (there are no Bentley's or Maybachs's of that size), and the other,... would be nice a bespoke to pull from the new "brand", we'll see...
