Thanks for posting, that’s a terribly specced X7 I’ve seen to date that exterior is a no no.

Both dull looking and absolutely uninteresting. Still wonder why these kind of cars are so popular...
WTF is wrong with you new-generation parents? We used to get everything into a second generation Forester - pushchair, camp cot, luggage and baby stuff. One of my "late-bloomer" close friends is the same.Surprisingly, I'm a bit concerned that our new X5 isn't big enough for my small family (two adults and one 3 week old baby). For such a big car, the boot space is pretty small. I'm considering an X7 next.

Besides the burgeoning bulk of items like NAFSTA-rated infant mobility systems, people have lost the art of packing smart. Back in the day, before we got saddled with a snot-nose, we'd drive down to the coast with two full sets of scuba gear (and all the shit that goes with it - if you dive you'll know) and luggage in a MK IV GTI. Packing was a challenge because that's all the space you had and you needed to make it work. Nowadays people just chuck stuff in the boot and if it doesn't all fit in the first attempt they be like "we need a bigger car".Golf Mk2, Renault 4, Fiat 128 had done the job well too back in the days. For a 10-day vacation at Adriatic coast. With 1-2 toddlers. But today a pack of dippers is as big as a mini-fridge. Stroller as big as a mini-tractor. Kid bicycles almost as big as Moto GT bike. And a person has to pack separate cosmetics for each body part, incl. left vs right eyelid e...

FFS - sounds more like a quad-bike than a bloody pram! No seriously, new dad, I'm gonna go home and tell the missus that a mate of mine on the internet says his X5 is too small for his family of three.I genuinely don't know how I'm going to get back to the UK next month with the stuff we need. I'll take a photo next time I put the pram in the boot of the X5. It fills the whole boot.

Well, for “small” families like yours, they made cars like the E estate and 5er. I bet the 5er Touring is more practical than the X5. And a better drive on top of that.Surprisingly, I'm a bit concerned that our new X5 isn't big enough for my small family (two adults and one 3 week old baby). I’d rather tend towards a Mercedes-Benz E Touristik & Transport, commonly known as T- Model.A nice interior, tons of space, great ride, innovative features, and less dorky looks than a minivan. I think its actually quite obvious why they're popular for people with families.

And that's the worst for the kids. The CoG is too high and the kids become fast carsick. From my personal experience with my three kids (I have also two golden retrievers and the same applies to them) when they were much smaller and were driven in the X5 E70 the problems were occuring only after 15 m ride, while with my wife's 1er they never had any issues. And, of course, many people just prefer to sit up high
I wonder how we, my parents and my three brothers, have survived in our Opel Kadett (B) 2 door and later on Opel Ascona (A) 2 doorI love wagons too, but no useable third row for people who aren’t small kids. Personal room is great for kids so they don’t fight and the extra space is great for kids too.

So very true, but the safety regulations were different then. When my friends had their two kids, neither parent had a driving license, I regularly had to shuttle the family around....
... and I did it one of these...
