Are you going for the new X4?
I seem to remember you were first inline for the F26?
How time flies...
Hi Scott27, what a huge honor that you remember of it. You have an excellent memory. Did you remember that a long time ago I asked you if you were in Geneva and if you had anytime free for a drink? If you are back in Geneva for the International Motor Show and you have free time, let me know my office is based in Geneva and it will be a pleasure to meet you. Did I read correctly that you don't work anymore for BMW?
Yes I m very interested in the new X4. I really like how you upgrade the Inside of the new X3/X4, all the new tech, safety tech, new seats design (and the beautiful individual leather seats), the 3 zones AC, new panoramic roof, aso. I mostly like both new design (X3/X4), but I still need to get used with the headlights that are not connected anymore with the grills. If everythings went upgraded, the new headlights design make me think of the 1 & 2 series, as there are no other models on the market with this design. Of course the new 8 serie and the new Z4 should reduce this feeling. Rear lights are very nice on both models. A few X3 M40i are already on roads here around Geneva.
For my next car, I still haven't opted which engine to choose. M40i would be similar to what i drive now. X4m would be great if business is OK, but I fear the comfort to be less good as in M40i. Full electric engine is a consideration too, but 2 negative points come in mind:
- Electric car are considered as tech toys, and resale value are in this way very low. 1 or 2 years ago I read an article on resale value of I8. So leasing a car during 3 years and buying it at the end, might be a financial loss compared to a petrol engine
- Batteries of Electric engine are a second issue, charging time is still too long and battery range to low. It should be similar or better to what we have with petrol/diesel engines. Car's batteries are still early generation models. So each time you will have a new generation of batteries, the car will become outdated (similar to smarphones). I wonder if it will be possible to swap batteries generation in a car. It doesn't sounds good for car industry, but sounds better for planet health.
Any way my X4 M40i is 2 years old, 87000km already done. Everytime I push on start button a huge smile comes on my face. It is a great car and I had no single issue with it since the begining. If in USA people compare it to an old Pontiac, here the car attracts a lot of people. Next year when I will sell it, I will miss the bull's shape of my F26. It looks like if it is ready to jump on its next target. The new X4 is very nice, it has grown in size, it is more rounded (for the happyness of the rear passengers), more imposing, civilized & cultivated, less agressive.
Kind regards & enjoy your day
