BMW Sales Figures (by model) for past 6 years

When you look at the numbers, suddenly the X6 and the 5GT make sense. They're sheer profit vehicles. 3 and 5 Series sedans selling at virtually the same numbers. No wonder BMW's profits are so thick.

I thought the Gran Coupe was supposed to be relatively low-volume niche within the 6-Series, but it recorded 80% of regular coupe sales, with only about 6 months of sales.

Looks like Z4 os BMW worst selling car. Customers don't like such cars anymore or the Z4 is not enough good?

Probably bad timing for the market. New one came right during the global recession, plus new SLK and Cayman/Boxster just released. The Z4 has moved upmarket compared to the Z3, which could be had for $11k less than the Boxster in the US, and had N/A 4-cylinder. I think Porsche sold 11,740 Boxster/Caymans last year. Probably potential Porsche customers were holding off for the new cars too. Drive reports suggest more of a boulevardier rather than a serious driving machine.

Still not normal BMW always gets bad timing for their "best" cars: M1, M8, Z8, CS.
