F01/02 is a STRONG contender in the luxury segment:bowdown::t-cheers:

F10 will follow the same route.;)

X1 is doing EXTREMELY well.:usa7uh:

X5 is DA BOSS!:eusa_clap

X6 and GT holds their own! I like them both:bowdown::bowdown:

6er cabrio and coupe will be on the up with the two new models AND the next 3er is on it's way to steal the show!

Last but not least the 1er coupe....what a beautiful piece of art!

This information is much appreciated Kokken Tor!

Yeah, the 5er GT isn't such a dud afterall. A tick over 10% of all 5er sales, and over a third of sales of the 7er. It really is a niche vehicle, but doing well.

Even though it's got a few years under its belt, the Z4 numbers seem a tad low. No wonder they won't go ahead with a proper M version, there's just not enough demand, and they can't slap-on a huge premium like they can with an M6.

So, from where will we see a boost in sales?

- The X3 just hit the market, so it should have a big improvement.
- The X1 has been delayed in the US. Once it arrives, I expect it to sell very well.
- The 5er will continue to ride its wave.
- The new 6er of course.

- Maybe the Z4 as summer comes around for Europe and N.America ?

That's because it's new. Niche cars are best judged mid-cycle after the early adopters have satisfied their appetite for something out of the ordinary. R-Class and PT cruiser sales were good to begin with but after a few years they simply tanked and the cars proved to be unsustainable fads.

Yeah, but there's a key difference. The two examples you mentioned were ugly!

Just kidding Luw',...I get the point you're making, and yes, once the its novelty wears off, the 5er GT's sales are GT (Gonna Tank).

It's a good proposal for a touring/SUV substitute, especially for the US market where touring has the same popularity as free health care. So far, most of the GTs I've seen have not been inhabited by children wearing soccer gear. BMW have diligently used the 5er GT to serve as a shuttle car for various art/fashion events in London.

Lets not forget about the models that were coming online in 2010 such as the 5er Touring that arrived in the last quarter of 2010 as did the X3.
The X3 has had an excellent re-introduction. Some markets now have waiting lists up to a year for the xDrive 20d and 30d models.

You would be surprised in how many cities that 5er GT has eradicated S-Klasse from VIP transport shuttles @ events and premium hotels.

I was in Paris regarding work for BMW at some fashion shows recently and agencies and fashion houses had 5 GT's and not one was registered in Munich. Even @ Geneva my hotel had a 5er GT VIP shuttle.

Sitting in the back of the 5er GT is what the GT is all about first class travel.
It is like sitting in a private lounge. Plus the ride refinement and compliance is the best in class this side of a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Not necessarily true. Look at X6 and it's sales. They are still rising. Also the car is "redundant, pointless, unnecessary". Obviously not to some, therefore it sells well. And it's not cheap.

Also there is a huge demand for a low-end 5er GT diesel model in Europe. Fleet & individual buyers are interested in a model like 520d GT, or 523d GT. And BMW are considering to address such a demand in the future. So, that will keep the sales on satisfying level.

5er GT is far from being a flop.

That's because BMW is aggressively shoving the car down event's manager's mouths.

It's more a fleet than a corporate car. It's roomier & cheaper than large sedans. And different.

And you'll be surprised by how many 7-series are being relegated to oblivion by the Panamera. :)

Obviously not many since 2010 has been the best year for 7er ever! Record sales!

Very good info. The X1 and X5 are very popular I see.

So is eg. X6. BMW's target was a sale of 35k units per year. And that were pre-recession plans! It's now the sales is 46k units. So, 31% above the expectations. Eg. GT expectations are within plans (~ 10% of whole 5er line sales).

GT is still targeting European markets mainly:
- fleet sales (shuttle service, taxi service)
- corporate sales (shuttle, managerial transportation)
- anti-SUV individual buyers (mostly women).

Yet female drivers are still distracted by the car's size! Not shape & concept! Therefore there is demand for such a car within this demographics, yet of a smaller size. Therefore the decision to offer smaller GTs.

It was never planned to be a hit in US. Although BMW offer it as a substitute for 5er Touring there, and it sells much better than Touring did.

5er GT is far from being a sales distaster. They seem to be popular in Sweden. For a country with just 9 million inhabitants there are surprsingly many of them on the road.

Yes, the addition of xDrive has boosted the sales. And when / if the smaller diesel model will be introduced, sales will also flourish.
