Don't know what to think of it... that's just .6sec faster than the "previous" M5 Competition and still slower than the GT63S.

Posted the same comment at the same time !Only 0.6 seconds quicker the M5 Competition, despite the Corsa semi-slicks. Also, 0.8 s behind the GT63 S...
Probably production version will be a bit faster. M2 CS was 1 second faster than preproduction version in sport auto...Only 0.6 seconds quicker the M5 Competition, despite the Corsa semi-slicks. Also, 0.8 s behind the GT63 S...

Depends on the conditions during the lap though, it is November.Don't know what to think of it... that's just .6sec faster than the "previous" M5 Competition and still slower than the GT63S.
Then why give the car to the press now and not wait for proper release ? I don't see the benefit. It does not create high expectations...Depends on the conditions during the lap though, it is November.
That pre-production M2 CS had engine failure at the end of the lap, this M5 seemed to be okay. It's just marketing stuff, no real improvement IMO.Probably production version will be a bit faster. M2 CS was 1 second faster than preproduction version in sport auto...
I don't know but all recent times on Hockenheim GP have been wack. 765LT slower than 720S, 620R slower than 600LT, M5CS only 0.6s faster than M5C despite having tyres than are easily >1s faster. Then why give the car to the press now and not wait for proper release ? Very informative thank you.I don't know but all recent times on Hockenheim GP have been wack. 765LT slower than 720S, 620R slower than 600LT, M5CS only 0.6s faster than M5C despite having tyres than are easily >1s faster.
The M5 CS lap was done on September 28th (visible in the Race Navigator overlay in the lap video), and in the article, Gebhardt writes that the tarmac felt strangely slippery during the M5 CS testing, so that may be the reason for the relatively slow CS laptime. Also he writes that the brakes were very worn due to extensive testing of the car (it was a development vehicle after all).
But none of that counts for the McLaren's. He only says that the setup for both cars was far from ideal for fast laptimes. The 620R was also quite a bit slower than the 600LT on the straights despite the claimed power advantage (more drag, and maybe a bit less 'real hp' in case of the 620R)
Looks and sounds fantastic at least in the states.
Looks like engine and suspension in Sport. Steering in Comfort.
They do of course. Each sporty BMW spends a part of its development process on the Nuerburgring. They perfectly know the time of each car but obviously they do not announce it when it makes no sense (when it's not some type of e record). It's a pity BMW don't do ring times anymore this would certainly be fast
