M5 BMW M5 F10 (spy pics & info)

The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production (1995 to 1998, 2023 to 2024). Official website: BMW M
Just as Eni said, this car is still just a 'Concept'.

It seems this concept still has the standard side mirrors (I think the E60 M5 Concept was the same story). It lacks any stylized side skirts that all M vehicles are given....and oh those rims. We've seen spy shots of that blue M5 with the multi-spoke wheels (that IMO look much much more sporty!). This concept has the boring style, and to make it even worse, they're blacked-out, so it's no surprise the car doesn't have that special 'pop!' or M appeal.

If there's one thing we know about BMW's it's that appropriate rims make a ginormous difference to the overall personality and appeal of a car. This couldn't be more true for M vehicles.

Show this car in natural light, in a white color, with the small enhancements that are missing from this concept...bang on the nicer rims...and put up a sign that says 'The NEW M5'.

..and the rest, as they say, ... will be history!

And Sunny, thank you for posting the photos. Never seen a certain member/s make such an immediate u-turn in sentiment. Two-thumbs up!

Thank you Sunny for posting the pics. I was absolutely disgusted at how people started discussing the car knowing most have not seen it (YEAH my PEN1S is bigger then yours because I have seen the car) kind of attitude was certainly not expected from the senior members on this forum.

and FFS, Scott, you have your own dedicated section!! post your table scraps there for all your followers who love feeding off your vague droppings but dont go and ruin threads outside your bubble. I like the little I have seen of the new M5 but I am so damn put off about this car's unveiling Im just hating everything right now. Thank you for ruining a 80+ page thread and the years of anticipation built up for this car.

Hmmm...I know that spy shots a little grainy, but to my eyes these are 2 subtly different rear diffuser's.

As I mentioned before someone would have broken the embargo and this Russian publication has.

http://kp.ua/daily/020411/273801/

Why are you posting a link to an "embargo" breaker's website? It seems to me that BMW wanted some "unofficial" pictures on the web.

Anyway, apart from the stupid CM game, I really like the look of the F10M. My first thought was "That looks awesome, I am going to buy one in that exact colour". Hopefully the rear-diffuser, side mirror housings and wheels are better on the production version.

Hmm ok I think we all knew how the M5 would look like....but i don´t have this BIG BANG feeling :t-banghea and is this all for the big shanghai show ???

:t-cheers:

I think i love it .. it looks like a shark..very sleek...but still agressive..the side and the front is spot on.. the rear diffuser is abit off.. its to mechanical looking..to a rear that is otherwise very organic.. We need more photos thats for sure, now the CM people seeing that the Embargo is broken might be able to provide us with some...( oh right..they dont know shit..they just leached it off the Russian webiste..hahah)

Anyway.. big up to SUNNY..

Bitch ass thread..

You know very well most of us haven't seen it, so why discuss it in the public domain and ruin it for us? Y'all searching for a power trip or something?

Whoa, that pathetic and low. Almost makes me laugh. Like the people who got a pm can do anything about the ways Scott operates.

If I get a pm from someone who asks me not to share it with anyone, I will NOT share it with anyone. Period. I am not a Nazi. No matter the subject.

Also, I am proud I didn't post any pictures. I am a member who can be trusted. And after hostile comments like Gene's, I am VERY happy I didn't post the pictures!!!!

I personally don't care you got the pictures, in fact I say good for you that you are in the loop. People get confidential pictures all the time, and if I wrote comments about that not being fair, then I would have no life whatsoever. What I was pissed at, was when people that got the pictures discussed it in the public domain knowing full well that most of us haven't seen it.

How I see it is if you are trusted with pictures, you're trusted not to discuss it in front of people you know FULL well that haven't seen it. That doesn't mean you can't discuss it, but you can discuss it via PM.

Yes, you personally didn't discuss it in the public domain, I think that was honourable of you, so my comment was not directed at you.

Now how my comment is pathetic and low I don't get. My comment is absolutely fair - confidential information requires confidential discussion - don't go ruin the surprise for the rest of us, by describing bits and pieces you do and don't like. That to me screams: "Oh yeah, I've got the pictures and you don't, so I must be better than you". Now that is it pathetic and low.

Well I certainly don't think it's fair.

There is absolutely nothing I knew "full well". I was more of the understanding a lot of BMW fans got the same PM, and I was simply happy to finally see the freaking car. Nothing more, nothing less.

As usual, BLAME SCOTT. There is absolutely nothing the members did wrong. Damn, what a mess again.

Fact is, who cares anymore? Call it a fiasco or a debacle even, either way, we all have the pictures now and we're free to discuss. Lets avoid turning this thread into an anti-whoever or whatever, and stick to the topic at hand.

Well I feel bad because you are right on almost all accounts. Just not the power hungry members part.
I am sort of offended by that as far as one can be offended on a forum of course. Because in the end, I simply roll my eyes and move on, no matter the subject.

So back on topic then, now that we have some pics? I really like the position of the rear reflectors. M6 and 6er M pack will have them in this way too:

Look just like a normal F10 with an M-Pack. :t-hands:

Does't have the presence of the old M5's it seems, but it's a beautiful car nonetheless.

Are the black wheels gonna be production? Interesting how AMG and M are jumping on the black wheels bandwagon. Kind of a love/hate thing for me.

able to provide us with some...( oh right..they dont know shit..they just leached it off the Russian webiste..hahah)

They are not the pictures I took at the event.

Btw, the car in the pics is still a Concept!

Nope

Apart from slight detail changes (mirrors) this is 99% the production car same as the E60 M5 Concept.
Wheels are optional but multi-spokes are available too.

i was hoping that it wouldnt be too much aggresive and it isnt :) always loved the fact that ordinary people couldnt differ older m cars from standart ones

The whole point of the M5 is forever repeated.
A Business car which at the touch of the button turns into this batshit crazy sports sedan.

From the E12 M535i , E28 M5 , E34 M5 , E39 and E60 they do not reveal their intentions visually, they are surprisingly understated.
Every M5 goes about it's potential , visually as discreet as possible, no additional "extreme" aerodynamics , subtle wheel-arch enhancement ,
but they are anything but when you actually drive them.

Pretty much as it should be.
If your out to get as much attention as possible, get a super sport car.

Higher res picture, of one I believe has not been posted yet (in this size, anyway).

This is perfection. It's the type of design that at first sight looks familiar and pedestrian but that grows on you with time. While rivals are busy adding vents, creases and additional exhausts on their performance sedans, BMW have crafted a timeless four door family saloon. I'll add myself to the choir of people wishing that the diffuser was black.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
