3 Series (F30) BMW F34 3er GT: Spy Pics - Renders - Info

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the F30 (sedan version), F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring'), and F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F35) was sold in China. For this generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate. It was succeeded by the G20 3 Series, and the G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: October 2011 – October 2018
Wow, that looks weird and awful. I even see some Audi in the greenhouse. That side vent looks so cheesy, out of place, gimmicky and cheap.

The front, however, actually looks good! Seems the grille is different from the F30 and executed much better. In contrast to my comments on the 4-Coupe thread, looks like BMW might be hopefully finding their groove with the new interpretation of the kidneys! (finally)

no thank you BMW, you can keep it. For me the front doesn't work. the lights merging with the kidney grill looked benign at first, but just plain grotesque after a second look and already looks dated. profile is horrible, and the rear 3/4 just plain wrong.
wonder who this car is aimed at?

well, I had higher hopes for the 3GT since I thought a smaller body would be more appropriate for a fastback hatch. But it's pretty legit awkward-looking. Give me a 3er Touring with a Sports package, and we can call it a day.
Yikes. I don't get it, why another one of these when the 5GT is a dud already?

M

In the States, it's a rare (disfigured) bird. Internationally, especially in China, it is well-received, or so says SCOTT27.

BMW is losing its roots. They need to go back to what they do best - sedans & coupes. This is disgusting. The lights merging with the kidney's is awful. And don't even get me started on the out of place side vents. I'm sure with BMW's new electric steering it will manage to be even more boring and bloated than the F30. Honda Crosstour anyone?

Having taken some time to digest these pictures, this is my official opinion on the car:

1. Design wise, I am not impressed. The front appears to be almost as sleek and anorexic as the regular F30, but from the A-Pillar and back, the car is fatter than the normal sedan. Audi managed to make both the A5 SB and the A7 to appear sleek all the way to the back. I hoped that BMW could do the same.

2. Concept wise, it's the same old, same old. I strongly despise all those types of cars, that don't come to one's mind when he thinks of BMW. I am all in for the segment's single best sedan, the F30 or the F10, but a BMW a la A7? Why? There's nothing like that in BMW's history either, while the Audi team did have something to refer to (notice the hyperlink ;). I can't find a reason to buy, or even like this thing. It's not even what people nowadays call a "4 door coupe"...

BMW better not even dare to claim they created a new niche with this car.

We can expect a great deal of creativity with BMW's press release on the 3 GT :D

Ladies and gentlemen. Here is a case study in "looks like sh**".

I finally started warming up to BMW after M-B finally lost my interest, and now this.... I'm starting to get worried BMW are showing signs of going down the same design road as M-B.

The front looks great (but not the rest). Same face the new 4-serie Coupe are going to look like?

Are they planning to built a successor to the 5er GT ?

Yes. This time with sleeker rear end ... with pop-up wing like on forthcoming 3er GT.

GTs with their higher semi-command sitting position have built their own customer pool.

See, there are people who want something more comfy than sedan / wagon (especially regarding the sitting position) yet don't want driving an SUV/SAC. GT perfectly caters such need.

No there aren't. This is bull. Most of the 5er GT are bought by fleet companies and used as taxis. People are buying Range Rovers, not 5er GT.
