I can't help but see the 1 series in so many 5 series videos.
The 5 series and the E-Class are the new 7 series and S-Class?, for certain markets...it gives me the impression. The 5er and the 7er are both bigger than their counterparts from Mercedes. This used not to be the case in the past. I believe here plays a part not only the shared platform but also the taste of the Chinese customers. At least in Europe big size (of the car) in a certain segment is not a virtue.
The new W214 E-class is virtually as big as a 1972 W116 S-class (length 4960mm, width 1870mm, height 1425mm) but 4cm higher. The LWB W214 version at 5098mm is as nearly as big as the 1991 W140 S-class (5112mm; 1886mm; 1496mm).The 5 series and the E-Class are the new 7 series and S-Class?, for certain markets...it gives me the impression.
I mean 5.06m...wow
ChinaThese 2 are very big cars now.
the 5 series is already big in non lwb formChina
Especially since the Benz won’t have a V8.It will be interesting to see the results of a poll of the G60 BMW M5 vs W214 Mercedes-AMG E63. I think we're going to see more votes in favour of the BMW rather than the Mercedes.

In general, according to BMW, the 5 in general or in the sum of its generations is more successful than the E, "the most successful business class car of all, blah blah" (in the G60 launch video), it is always very even , technical drawbacks and in some cases BMW ahead, so this time it wouldn't have to be any different...I think the 5 will edge the E in sales in the second half of their life cycle.
This will be due to the bimmer being offered in BEV form whilst the E doesn't. IMO the shape and design of the EQE is more polorising than the 5.

Well, it's a comparison taken from auto motor und sport.deDespite those images doing their best to hide the 5s questionable proportions and odd details, it's an easy win for the E IMO. I'm old now. I prefer timeless beauty.
But I get the 5s appeal and can see why people would be drawn to its avant-garde approach. But the fact that the proportions are off is undeniable.
GCF was once the leading edge for all things new in the German automotive world. Now we're old and irrelevant. All the young ones are on insta. I guess that explains MBs plethora of 'visions' and engagement of the likes of Virgil Abloh and Will I am. As questionable as us old farts find it the marketing department has done a remarkable job of engaging a younger audience.
Please don't forget to hit like.
Dementia is also progressive (nothing personal included)I consider myself within the "progressive team"
