3 Series BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Completes 1,013 Ml Journey from UK to Munich and back...

The BMW 3 series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. BMW's best selling model, it is the successor to the 02 series. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series. The M version of the 3 series, the M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.
Just for the record, last year i've managed to complete 895km with mys 535d driving constantly 130/140 kmh, not below that...;) :usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

It is amazing, what modern cars can do - even a 272 hp (?) V6…
Nevertheless, with less weight, less technique (who really needs a full electric seat?) even more stunning fuel consumption results could be possible.

Really? I had an X5 35d for a weekend and I couldn't get anywhere near the claimed figures no matter how hard I tried. It positively guzzled the diesel.

I have two successful farming customers both owners of X5 35d's. They both complain about the diesel consumption, especially compared to the 3.0d N57N engine as they both previously owned E53 3.0d's and one of them owned a E70 3.0d before the 35d. So, Betty is positively correct - they positively guzzle diesel.

E53 X5 3.0d 2006 N57N engine, highway N3 Warden to JHB (250km distance) @ 160km/h = 12.1km/litre easy!
Been there, done that;)

Really? I can't speak for the diesel and I have never driven the diesel version of the X5.
Did you drive it in sport mode?
I drive in sport mode and shift at less than 2k rpm.
Next time you get the chance give it a try....:usa7uh:

I drove it every possible way on a variety of roads. In every scenario urban/combined/100km/h cruise I couldn't get anywhere near what the manufacturer claimed. Obviously on some cars such as the 320d, the figures are very good and can be matched easily. But on the X5 35d, forget it.

What an awesome engine!

I doubt the old E90 320ds aren't that shabby either - those without EfficientDynamics? I'm looking at acquiring one when I'm in the UK for the sheer practicality!

I can tell you that they are great. Cheap to buy and cheap to run - just check that the diesel pump is healthy.

I tried to come close to those figures and I couldn't. On the other hand, I did no eco-driving at all... just the usual hooligan driving ;-)
