It is interesting which platform is going to be used: an evolution from the current one or the CLAR platform (which would be quite costly to be adopted for these two niche models only)

I recently had my eye on an M240i (or even a M2), when I realized that the 2 series is already close to the end of its lifecycle. If I understand correctly, the 2 series coupe will remain rwd and (hopefully) retain also the inline 6, whereas the upcoming 2 GC will be fwd (and therefore is not the replacement for the 2 coupe)
Do we have any updated info on the upcoming 2 series coupe ? I could not find anything new. It should be up for renewal next year, so there should be some testing activity by now. Any update would be highly appreciated

Doesn't really matter imo. The E87 130i/1M and the F20 versions of the M235i/M240i/M2/M2 Competition are ALL glorious.
Just go for one of those.

Unless you get a killer deal then wait for the next 2 series coupe.

I take delivery of my M140i in three weeks but only bought it because discount was 33%. I have specced adaptive suspension and an LSD. Without those two options I wouldn't be interested in it as a performance car.
