Vs Autozeitung: BMW F02 760Li vs. Mercedes V221 S600

But you dont like new BMW's so Im surprised that you were surprised that you didnt like the new 7er ;) :D

I was more surprised that I didn't immediately realize it was something I hadn't seen before. That doesn't really happen to me normally.

It's between the Panny and S this generation (until the new A8 is revealed), the S has the comfort luxury and looks covered while the Panny has everything else.

I really can't get over the way the LexPiggy looks at some angles :eusa_doh:
It's really the E65 all over again and it's going to be another long generation for the 7er.

I've been waiting since year 2001 when E65 was presented, the wait is finally over. BMW are back again with a beautiful luxury car. I've never been a fan of previous and current S-class, still waiting for an attractive S-class, long wait, yes, I know. My biggest issue with current S-class is the profile, wheel arches and the interior. I can't figure it what others think is so special with the design for S-class.

The BMW won? Is the board suffering from delirium?

Once again another win for Mercedes and the excuses start flying. Typical. Now when the E63 gets beat by an "old" M5 its impressive on the part of the M5. Here we have a brand new 760Li getting beat by an "old" S600, but that isn't impressive....we just come up with "the BMW won". When it clearly didn't.

Unbelievable.

Who does the acceleration for these tests? 5.2 sec 0-62mph for a S600 is laughable.

What side of the bed did you go up?
I read all two pages and I cant see any excuses on why the S-class lost. In fact no one has dicussed the result. :t-hands:

and regarding acceleration , these are the times we Europeans drive our cars. We push the throttle and lets the car do the rest.

I suppose the BMW boys consider not losing by a hundred points or more a victory. ;)

LOL, that must be it. Its hilarious. They're still at it. In reading those posts I had to go back to results to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Amazing.

Seems one is still confused.

The 7-series really only looks good in SWB.

Another question, why on earth take these cars anywhere near a track?

The only interesting points here are comfort, features and safety.

Don't speak in riddles. Yes, you are right one is still confused and its not me. An excuse is when someone has a explanation why a car lost or won, so far I havent seen such comments. Some of us discuss the design of the cars but thats hardly any excuses why the S-class won.
Anyway Marcus are there comments with value you want to add to this thread please do so. Discussing members posts arent relevant to this thread, its an insult.

Oh please, nobody mentioned you, but if the tires fit...............I can't help it if people see the results and then say something else. If that isn't delirium I don't know what is.

Get over it.

Jesus you took it seriously ? I won't forget my little smiley next time. :D

BMW 760LI needs to be equiped with individual interior package to compete Mercedes S600.The standard interior of 760LI looks very plain comparing S600's side by side.

Something like this -

Interesting comparison, although I don't understand the various categories coz they're in German. Congrats on the S for winning this comparison. Their maintained focus of comfort over sporting dynamics keeps them at the top of the pack.

On the other hand though, being absolutely objective, looking at the interior photos of the two cars, the design, the attention to detail, the extra amenities, and the overall 'plushness' and style of the 760Li is much more appealing than the S600. Just look at how the front and rear seats and headrests are more sculptured in the 7er than the S. The rear centre armrest/console looks fantastic in the 7er, but not so special in the S (for their top of the line model). The TV screen, and more importantly, the attention to detail and how they've implemented them (ie: haven't just stuck them in the headrests, but created a whole new back-of-seat sculpture to incorporate the screens). The sleek and stylish look of the woodtrim on the doors looks excellent on the 7er, while in the S it looks like they've skimped on the woodtrim with little thin strips with no sense of style or design. The ugly 'ruffled' style seat pockets for the rear passengers compared to the new-style pockets in the 7er.... it might be knit-picking, but it's all these little attention to detail things which really make the S look outdated, and out-classes. Again, I'm being 100% objective, and if I were - for some heavenly miracle - evaluating these 2 interiors for my purchase decision, the 760Li would score more points coz of all these little finer things. Yeah sure in the end getting in the car, getting behind the wheel and getting a real feel for these 2 road-yatchs would be the deciding factors in choosing one, but the 7er's interior is very very impressive.

Well, to me, that is what this segment is all about. Every other take on it will only result in some sort of compromise => less appealing result.

LOL, guess I'm one of the few who didn't ;) Merc1's reaction in particular is funny!

I suppose the BMW boys consider not losing by a hundred points or more a victory.

Well, it depends on what cars are being tested ;) A mere 24 points difference out of 3000 points against Mercedes' best of the best, the S600, isn't bad at all!

8-speed vs 5-speed !! It would be better for Mercedes to compete with a 7-speed box.

Well, somewhere I read, that the 7 speed box can't lift the huge torque of 830 Nm - same for the 65 AMG models. Nevertheless Kleemann offers a tuning kit for the W211 420 CDI to 400 hp and 900 Nm…so the 7 speed automatic should probably work… :t-hands:
