DEDE thanks for posting this test, even to check the performance figures and the verdict with points per category is plenty good reading for me that I enjoy. We all really appreciate your effort to post these test as you are a true motoring enthusiast! Cheers;):)

man that panamera is fast. and it aint even the s one.
good show from the bmw too, considering its only rwd. fastest in the straight line as expected ofc

Expected the RS7 to hit 200 km/h under 12 seconds. Disapointed.

It's still not bad, just that the other two are a bit quicker. I am a bit surprised that neither the RS7 or CLS punished the M6 off the line considering both have AWD.

We are talking about very small differences, you wont feel the difference and it aint gonna affect which one you buy. Besides how many times to you drive 0-100 or 0-200 km/h. Here I rather care about design and how they feel to drive.

If you swap the RS7 with the RS6 it would get my vote regardless which car was quickest but in this lineup I think it would be a tough call between the Panny and M6GC.

  • 1st place: Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG S (4,2/5 stars) - Brutal fast on the straightline, gives you the best everyday usability and high emotions.
  • 2nd place: Audi RS7 Sportback (4,1/5 stars) - Best price-to-power ratio, great straightline performance.
  • 3rd place: Porsche Panamera Turbo (4,0/5 stars) - Unmatchable cornering abilities, worst price-to-power ratio.
  • 4th place: BMW M6 GC Competition (3,9/5 stars) - The least comfortable and the most emotional car in this quartet.

There's a Jag XFR-S test in this issue as well, the results are:
  • 0-100 km/h: 4,2 s
  • 0-160 km/h: 9,0 s
  • 0-200 km/h: 13,9 s
  • Quarter mile: 12,47 s
  • Sachsenring: 1:41,86 min

I was trying to make a guesstimate what speed the Panny, RS7 and CLS would doing when the M6GC had reached 250km (155mph) based on the time difference each car took.

So here goes.

M6 - 155mph
CLS - 154mph (0.6s behind)
RS7 - 151mph (2.1s behind)
Panny - 148mph (4.1s behind)

I'd love to know what that would equate to visually in a race but I reckon it wouldn't be happy viewing for either Audi or Porsche fans.

Least comfortable? I've seen couple of videos where RS7 is described as terrible in comfort department and one comparison where 6er clearly beats it in it.

What suspension was the Audi using in this test and was it the same as the ones you were mentioning?

I have no idea. Is there even a suspension option on rs7?

In Europe yes there's either Air-Suspension which is usually the standard spec and then the option of DRC suspension which is a when the shocks are connected diagonally which almost eliminate lean, pitch and dive under extreme driving. Brilliant for spirited driving.

Both the RS7 and the M6 Competition were on sport-suspension, the BMWs with its shorter springs was less comfortable.

True, but only when RS7 have RS sports suspension plus with DRC, this had just comfortable air suspension.
