But the performance is a BIG disapointment...
0-100 in 5.1 seconds... 450 hp...IN A S8 !?!?!?!? :t-banghea

I could care less about 0-100 figures. The true power is between 100-250km/h.

One thing is for sure. There is no other car with such elegance and beautiful styling and lines as this one:

Great effort by Audi, I'm sure the press will get smaller number for acceleration times, Audi is always modest in this regard w/ offical figures. It looks great, doesn't scream anything, but tells enough to let you know that it's serious buisness from the core A8 lineup. I feel they could have done more w/ the engine, but they're not Mercedes Benz, whom does not discriminate in regards to what car gets what hp figure, just as long as the cheaper isn't faster than the more expensive. I'm sure many Audi salespersons will stress the fact that this car shares the same engine w/ the Gallardo, and that will indeed be a huge selling point for this car. Honestly speaking though, the game has moved far beyond 450hp now, there might be an RS8? Whos to say no? Logically speaking though, there really wouldn't be a reason for Audi to do such a car w/ the W12 at the top of the heap. I'm not going to slam the car, have not even driven yet, words only say so much, but never speak as loud as the experience itself. :usa7uh:

The S8 sure does look good in the flesh!

I heard it would cost around 100,000 Euros!

If that's true then S8 gives the S500 a run for the money. :t-drive:

I read at TheCarConnection.com that the S8 fetches $115,000 USD, pretty good for this class of car w/ that caliber of performance if you ask me. Next up for me is to be the German spec brochure. :usa7uh:

That makes perfect sense since 100k euro is around 115 k $. Anyway the price is surprisingly low.

Grill is really not nice and the low power and bland look, why couldnt they step it up a bit, such a gorgeous model the A8, why didnt they just give it more character and sport and detail, thats all this car really need. Truthfully i was really looking forward to this car, no im just dissapointed!

How can the price be low when the car isn't a monster if you compare with cheaper cars like the S500 which does 0-100km/t in 5.4 seconds. I think the price is reasonably and price higher than that would be too expensive. The car is quick but it's performance doesn't exactly make my jaw drop.

Unfortunatly, i agree... this car should ahve simply been "more". It had the oppurtunity, only not to take advantage of it! Sadly!

It it just a bit more faster than a S500, thats all... I expected more power and performance but still the car looks good ans the price isn't that bad.

BTW is the S8 faster than the A8 with V12 engine.

Not sure what the numbers are, i think its too soon, perhaps withint he upcoming weeks, we will have more info on the S8.
Good question though!

Yes, the car is defentely faster then the 6.0 W12.

5.1 to 5.2 seconds to 100 km/h and then the difference will increase for sure to 200 km/h.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
