I'm not gonna say it will date soon, what I'm saying is if the A5 is priced in the ball park of the 335i it will affect their strong hold in this segment IMHO. I see more Audi's on the road then I've ever seen, out in about, as well as in my own development. In my opinion this is the only way I can gage where the cash is going.

I'm not trying to start a flame war if that's what I'vw lead you to believe, I was only trying to justify my opinion, I do stress opinion!:)

No flame war, i just wanted you to explain...:usa7uh:

I am getting a tear in my eye, when I look back on this beauty:

Audiholic: I dunno but I can't see the resemblence here. BMW's signature is not present from that angle which is the Hofmeister Kink (spel?). Com on that is alone a huge difference. BTW the thing that made me like the new C-pillar treatment is exactly that angle. If it was Novulari like (which is also cool), the greenhouse would have looked enormous and hideous from this specifc angle. Now it looks more luxurius and RR - Phaeton like. You might think of me crazy but I've always liked bolder c-pillars & find them a sign of luxury.

The Nuvolari is great guys , the only problem that it will age faster than others because Audi has used "Alot" of its design elements in current TT & A4.

Still a great design though ..

I'm thinking it's the roof line that has you dissapointed?:t-hands:

You mean what's I am disapointed with the A5 compared to Nuvolari?

Well, first of all, Nuvaolari was something titally new. It was a big ass coupé that just screamed out the future Audi design. Sure we have seen those lights in the new A4 and some elements in the TT. But stil the Nuvolari is the most liked and embraced Audi concept ever, even bigger then the Le Mans.
I mean, c'mon look at that thing:

Compared to the A5, this is way more futuristic, and MJFaaY, in my eyes when I look at that A5 front, it's already dated.

Ok Audiholic, now you broke me down.

Am dissappointed with the new A5 & I absolutely loved the Nuvolari. Actually that car + R8 that made me adore Audis. I used to respect them but after those I loved Audi.

See, this is what I mean. When you see the Nuvolari, you see passion, future...love!

When you see the A5...what do you see?

Lazy design really.

I was excited when I knew that Da Silva stated that the A5 was his best deisgn so far knowing that he worked with Alfaromeos not so far ago. But truely that was a statement to ease the "shock" on Audi-fans really.

Exactly!! I feel fooled, sad, angry.... That's what I feel now. The more I look on the A5, the more angry I get.

Btw, do you know which cars exactly Da Silva has designed?

I really like this car, I wouldn't say passinate though. But their's only 2 cars I've felt passinate about through rhe years, CGT, and the R8. That's not a feeling I get from mass production vehicles.:t-hands:

Man you guys are vicious, I Love this car.

I am glad it doesn't look like Nuvolari because than it would look old and bland. Of course it doesn't look like the R8 because that is a supercar, it is meant to look unique, but its shoulder line is very similar to the A5. You can complain about it all you want but I'm sure once it's out in the flesh you'll come around, I remember all the bitchin about the B7 when it first came out.

The Nuvolari is definitely designed with more passion. I also think the A5 front is already dated. You can only use the same design on so many things because otherwise it gets old real fast.

I hear ya man. About Da Silva, as I remember he designed some of the 1990's alfas. I ll search it later ...

Sure every car looks 10 times better in flesh, but i do know i won't see much more when i see it in flesh than i saw in pics...

The car sure looks great, but i don't see that much effort in it...

I'm totally with you Audiholic. 4 years ago the Nuvolari just screamed "This is the big, bold future of Audi" and we all swooned.

To cop a dumb analogy: Say you get a $2,000 bonus, and you're a spendthrift. You could 1 - Buy a whole bunch of fancy dinners, designer jeans and a night out at the casino, or you could 2 - Buy an expensive keepsake like a Swiss wristwatch or a nice piece of gear like a LCD TV or a new computer - something that really sticks.

I feel as thoughy Audi could have gone with option 1 and 2, but instead they just went with 1. They took little pieces of the Nuvolari and sprinkled them throughout the line, which was a good thing. But what the certainly didn't do was release the car that would make a very strong impact on fans, skeptics and the public at large.

With regard to Audi's brand image, the whole is not the sum of its parts. The Nuvolari would have been a headline grabbing icon, a serious fashion statement and a stark contrast to the German competition.

The time has already passed, and I think Audi has robbed itself of a great opportunity.

Effort? It's a completely new platform. Hell it's a completely new car. They easily put just as much effort, no, more effort into it than the e92.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
