5 Series [Rumors] Any word on details of 2020 5er LCI?

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

I prefer Habib's "original" design. Way 2much chrome.
The 3-series-look is the best of all current BMW sedans imo. (Unless you take the 8-SERIES-GC "sedoupe" into account)

Way too much chrome in that bumper of the Luxury Line. No thanks. M-Sport it has to be then.

I'd imagine the front chrome pieces will also come in black, just like on the 3 series which can have chrome or black front trim pieces.

Agreed, but the M-Sport has a big chunk of chrome in the diffuser area of the bumper. I imagine you could get that shadowlined.

Interesting that the M-Sport variants kidney grilles have a thinner chrome outline. Not sure I've seen this differentiated in a BMW M-Sport variant before. Speaking of the kidneys, seems like a poor compromise that the license plate bracket is covering up the bottom edge of the grille. It'll probably look even worse with an actual license plate on there.

The wheels options shown in this 'brochure' are pretty average, even the M-Sport wheels are fairly ho-hum with the thin spokes.

My favorite update is the darker/smoked tail lights, very nice!

2021 BMW 5 Series previewed, 48V mild hybrid confirmed

The company revealed the teaser during its General Meeting presentation, showing a dark and shadowy image of the front end of the upcoming 5 Series. Not much detail is revealed in the image aside from the revised headlights, which feature longer and wider daytime running lights and slimmer overall housings compared with the outgoing model.

You can also just see the updated kidney grilles at the front which are also wider and more prominent as part of BMW’s latest design trend. As we saw with the leaked images BMW has also prepared some refreshed taillights which look more like the latest G20 3 Series lights.

Some new wheel options are also on the way, as well as minor trimming changes for the bumper bars and for the M Sport pack, and there’s word there could be three new exterior colour options in store. Only minor changes are set to be introduced for the interior, mainly focusing on technology.

As for the powertrains, well, BMW confirms the 2021 5 Series LCI facelift will feature a range of options including electrified setups, while introducing 48-volt mild hybrid technology for most variants. Reports suggest there could be a powerful new ‘545e’ badge, sitting above the existing 530e hybrid. In a statement that accompanies this latest teaser, BMW said:

“In just under two weeks, we will present the new BMW 5 Series. Both the sedan and the touring will also be available as electrified versions. We are using our 48-volt mild hybrid technology in nearly all conventional models – saving up to nine grams of CO2 per kilometre.”
