Alright alright...

Now once again i never said BMW make bad engines.. that would be stupid to say.. but some very bright person here said that MB are unflattering under the hood.. and obviously thats not the case...even if some of you BMW children belive so..
But once again i stand by my point there is no engine besides the 535d and the V10 that gives more power not just hp but also torque than a equall MB engine.. now it may not make the MB engines better.. allthough some are clearly better.. but it atleast shows that MB is more than flattering under the hood..

Well let's stop including us with that one person that made the statement... that's just bad generalization. But then to say that the V10 and top of the line diesel is the only better engine than Benz is not that great either.

I don't know if you've driven the 2.0d engine cars made by BMW but they are truely the benchmark. In my unbiased opinion, BMW make some of the best diesel engines in the world. What about the 5.0 liter V8, that's a smooth beast as well.

Last but not least, the engine from the M3... can't touch this

Once again.. not better.. but atleast as good.. just look at the figures.. now i know those figures dont say all but they say alot..

Ohh and are you talking about a 5.0 diesel V8?? wich one is that have i missed something..

PS
Yes i agree all hail the M3 engine its a real good one.. allthough it had some problems earlier on.. but now its perfect..

He probably means BMW's 4.0 lt V8. :t-hands:

If so then im sorry it may be very smooth and so on.. but the new audi V8 diesel.. and the 420 CDI.. are probably much better..

Sorry I meant the V8 5 liter petrol...

What makes those diesel V8s "much better" than BMW's 4.5 liter V8 diesel? What are we basing "this is the best engine" on? Hp, torque, reliability, fuel consumption?

Horsepowers do not determine who build the best engines. Engines are complex and that is more to it than just numbers. Just another bad excuse if you stare only at numbers. Horsepowers didnt make BMW the best winning award company in history.

You saw my post earlier about the engine awards? We dont need to argue any longer, BMW has won most awards and it has nothing to do with horsepowers or torque alone. I think thats enough said. :D
Let Artist live in his own world where MB is superior to everything. I'm fed up with all the excuses :t-banghea :D

HA.. excuses.. well look at the way you want.. u show me awards.. i show you fact.. i agree that BMW makes superb engines.. but some of you cant say the same about MB.. and that says alot..

Ohh and the audi and MB Diesel V8´s are better in everything you stated there..
Hp,Torque and fuel consumption.. and as far as relaibility goes.. idont think any of the big germans have probs with that..especially when it comes to low mantinance diesel engines..

PS
5.0 petrol V8 is gr8.. but so is the new 500 engine from MB putting out 388hp.. :)

Lol. Compare the C55 engine with the E46 M3's. The M3 is just as powerful and like 2/3 the size lol. What a shame MB is.

Cmon!! MB has always made bigger engines, I think its classy. Just something for Mercedes-Benz...

Pffff shame??? You re talking about Mercedes-Benz, the only thing that MB would shame about is the bad quality of the previous models, I hope its solved with the new models :eusa_pray

Well atleast it doesent blow up and start burning.. haha LOL.. okay im not gonna be mean any more..:)

MY take

MB: no need for a,b,r classes
BMW: no need for 1,X3
all 5 are sick shameful automobiles

I like the 1er... I think most people would agree. Now, I am not a big fan of the X3.

No matter what you guys think 1 series and X3 account for more than 20% of BMW sales and are the main reason for BMW's record sales the last two years. On the other hand Mercedes is also introducing new models like B and R but their sales are constant. I guess that has to do with high prices/ drop in quality/bad marketing.

I absolutley agree..... maybe not shameful, but there is no need for these at all. :usa7uh:

So then you should add the A3, A3 Sportback and then possible Q5?
I don't see why there's no need for them. If you wanted a little hatchback, it's nice to have to be able to chose something nicer than for example, the Golf or Focus.

HOwever, the whole MPV deal (aka a van), I'm not too happy with.

Do you seriously think an engine is better because it has better hp and better Nm necessarily?? Because I can tell you that neither the M3 or M5 won those awards because of that. But listen, I'm done throwing rocks at each other... buy whatever car you like ;)

Excuse me but A and B class are mini vans which is not the same with A3 and 1 series which are hatches. I would hate if Audi made a minivan and noone should mention the A2 cause it never sold in big numbers and looks less like a van.

Times change. MB can't always be the conservative company it once was. Many customers in this day and age want something more exciting, design-wise. While the new S-Class is very bold, it still offers the traditional core Mercedes values such as comfort and safety, but now with a lot of sport injected into it. Customers change, and carmakers must respond. That's basically the point I want to make.

And I don't think the new MB designs look "American" at all. They still have that Germanic look and feel to them, albeit with a bit more soul and moderness injected into them.
