- V10 5.0-litre engine in the M5/M6: Best Performance Engine 2005
- V10 5.0-litre engine in the M5/M6: Winner in the class exceeding 4.0 litres

- 3.2-litre six cylinder engine in the M3: Winner in the class 3.0 to 4.0 litres.

BMW has become the first car manufacturer to receive six different prizes within a year at the annual Engine of the Year Awards
, the world’s most prestigious engine competition.

This means that BMW is the most successful brand to participate in the Engine of the Year competition, the Munich engine builder now having seized 26 trophies over a period of seven years.

The 252 kW (343 bhp) 3.2-litre high-performance power unit featured in the BMW M3 has alone received this coveted award for the fifth time in succession – an unprecedented record.

This remarkable engine has contributed decisively to BMW’s sustained accomplishment at the Engine of the Year Awards, thereby assisting the company in establishing itself as the most successful engine designer and builder.

To be honest my love for MB cars has decreased and my heart has the latest months opened up for BMW. BMW produces great en enjoy full car but I'm still having problems with the design of some of their cars. Still there are many Bimmer I would chose over Benzes. This is where I stand:

A-class or 1er: 1er
C-class or 3er: 3er(even the E46 over the c-class)
SL500 or 645ci: SL500
E55 or M5: M5
SLK or S4: Z4
7er or S-class: S-class
CLS55 or M6: CLS55

No you haven't brain washed me but some of you guys have really made me realise that what bimmer are and the philosophy behind them. On top of that I have been repressing and trying to deny my affection for bimmers. At the end of the day eventhough some of them looks wierd, they are great and sporty which is perfect for me since I'm young. Oh I forgot the SLK and Z4. List updated.......

Still you should be aware that the list might change signifigantly if Porsche is brought in to the picture ;).

Now once again i never said BMW make bad engines.. that would be stupid to say.. but some very bright person here said that MB are unflattering under the hood.. and obviously thats not the case...even if some of you BMW children belive so..
But once again i stand by my point there is no engine besides the 535d and the V10 that gives more power not just hp but also torque than a equall MB engine.. now it may not make the MB engines better.. allthough some are clearly better.. but it atleast shows that MB is more than flattering under the hood..

Good to hear that. Slowly you are moving from the luxury marque of the past (Mercedes) to the one of the present (BMW). I hope you also move to the brand of the future (Audi) one day.
