No different to BMW. So what's your point?

Anyhow, while MB's sales success is impressive, it's a shame quality has suffered slightly as a result.

No point. Everybody is the same all increases are primarily due to SUVs in the US.
There is a debate here especially what will happen next especially if lower fuel costs continue.

Mercedes-Benz outsold BMW and Leuxs in the U.S. in May, thanks to continued demand for its sport utility vehicles. Deliveries of Mercedes-Benz cars and trucks slid 1 percent from a year earlier to 29,299, but the Bavarians posted a 64 percent gain for its GLC and GLK SUVs. BMW’s sales in the U.S. in May were down 6.4 percent to 29,017 and Lexus’ sales declined 10 percent to 26,682.

SUV sales continue to be a bright spot for Mercedes and Lexus with the new GL and GLS models posting a 45 percent increase in May. Lexus reported a 3.4 percent increase for its SUVs. Sales of BMW’s trucks fell 6 percent.

Mercedes expanded its U.S. luxury sales lead through the year’s first five months to more than 8,500 vehicles over Lexus. BMW remains in third.

Audi’s sales were up 1.6 percent to 18,728 units.

Jaguar was up 80 percent, to 2,164, thanks to first U.S. sales last month of the F-Pace crossover and the XE compact sedan.

Porsche’s sales increased 7.3 percent to 4,578 units.

I think SCOTT's point was simply that SUV's are driving many manufacturers growth at the moment.

Sedans are about to go extinct, in Europe at least. I've been paying attention lately, and over here in my part of the world 29 of the 30 cars I see are either hatch, station or SUV. And when I finally see a sedan, it's German (BMW/MB/Audi) 99% of the time.

Which brings me to the new Volvo S90. V90 will do just fine, but S90?? I want to see this one sell......

It's all the new product. The E-Class will start rolling out this month or early next month in the U.S. as well as the S and C Cabriolet models.

All Mercedes needs now is nail the next generation of SUVs and they will be truly unstoppable.

Wow its over 20000 ahead of BMW and over 30000 ahead of Audi in first 5 months. If Mercedes continue at the same pace till end of 2016 it could hit the 2mill mark in sales.

...and 18.000 of that number goes to V-class. Also, Merc has sold 40.000 compact cars (A,B,CLA,GLA) more than BMW (1,2, X1)....so, in class of 3 series (C class)and above, BMW has sold about 35.000 more...

Yes but the vast majority of that disparity can be accounted for by the Chinese market, where MB is playing a massive game of catch up.

The W213 will help MB immensely in the Chinese market.

However you look at it its a huge turnaround for MB, and about 3 years ahead of schedule.

Anyhow, what will be more interesting to me is % profit per vehicle...

Yes, adding V-Class to MB cars portfolio was a smarty pants move to overtake BMW in sales.
It's BMW's problem that they don't offer a CLA competitor tho.
So take 18k off and BMW is 2k behind MB. Strong 4th quarter for BMW should make things even more equal.

Just gotta love all the excuses and BS when BMW isn't the best seller anymore.

M

I can`t see any excuses, just some detail from official press releases from Daimler AG and BMW Group AG. Enjoy in love:)

There is probably a lot you can't see since the BMW colored glasses are faltering.

M

That doesn't even make sense. My glasses filter is not related to any car maker = Doesn't even make sense.

M
So, when I say that Merc advantage is from commercial vehicles, that is excuses with colored filter, and what about excuses like this:"If you take China sales out of the equation then worldwide Mercedes will be the best seller out of the 3 luxury brands". So take off your medical (and not a car company) "forgetting filter" and visit some old threads about sales figures from 2014, 2013,....there is plenty messages like this one, that i mention here...

Leave that man alone Tomazino. He is not worth it at all. Absolutely not worth it.

His 'contributing member' tag still has me giggling when I see it.

And neither are you. Positively not worth the effort.
