Vs 5Th Gear: M3 V8 vs C63 AMG

this test really shows what are M cars all about..They are not a top scorers in drags but they will crush competition on almost every other fact..M stands for Might,my friends..Its not all in how fast can on car reach 100 or 200 km/h limit..its in how it handles and how it feels doing it..:t-drive::usa7uh:

Like a lotus or porsche.

Good review (not as good as TG) but still a good review. M3 actually looks very nice in Melbourne Red. Im however getting so frustrated with all the motoring press busy comparing the M3 Coupe with the 4 door C63! Dont they know that apples should be compared with apples especially now that BMW is producing the 4door?

One more question:

Towards the end of the Video, Jason Plato narrates:

"The wayward Mercedes with all its BRITISH power"

Can someone explain why he said british power? I thought the AMG engines were built in Afelterbach?

i think you'll find he said " BRUTISH"

If you give me more power I'll be happy and if you increased it I'll be happier I can use it in staight line or when someone try to play with power. I can hit the peddal more to feel of the sport car with the (enough handel) to keep me in my line or to play 1-2 for couple of minutes. :t-drive:

For you if you have less power with too much handel you can not drift or driving like crazy in legal street. (Or if you play with me(the power) you will cry with your handling back) and if you can catch me then you may ask me to race in track and i would say sorry :t-hands: or :t-crazy2:

No offense, but it is immature responses like this that do a disservice to MB (and its fans) and give it an image of being a one trick pony only good in a straight line, which clearly is not the case.

Well, I'm in Disneyworld for a week, but I have to respond to this on my Blackberry....hahahaha

Seems like another head to head test with the same results....M3 is still the better handling and faster track car and more rewarding to drive, while the C63 is the faster car in a straight line.

I'm sure the C63 is a beast to drive and is the faster car on the streets, but this just confirms yet again how MB/AMG has failed in its well publicized mission to take on the M3 head on as a balanced driver's car.

The M3 sedan is only marginally heavier than the coupe, and the new M-DKG gearbox will only make the M3 accelerate faster and even faster on a track.

So when are you putting in the order for an E90 M3 :D

You know, if I was in the market for a 4 door performance/luxury sedan now, I would seriously consider the E90 M3 Sedan with the dual clutch gearbox. It does seem to be the best of all worlds.....good daily driver, acceptable family hauler, and good track car.

Back in 2004/2005, the C55 was the clear winner for me over the E46 M3 coupe.

It certainly does seem that way PCV - the E90 M3 is a very enticing prospect for someone that can afford one but needs just a little more versatility / family suitability to justify the investment. The only thing that casts a small doubt for me would be the small boot.

Then again, I could afford an M3 as a daily driver I'm sure I could get my wife a nice wagon of sorts for those family outings. :)

Seriously, were you guys actually thinking the C63 will be the better track car here ?? Its a foor door saloon against a coupe, both V8s , the m3 has more horsepower per ton ... Its crystal clear without testing that the m3 is more track capable .. But the Merc was close, thats great good enough !!;)

PLUS : the M3 should be quicker than the C63 around the track since its lighter, nothing to be surprised about, whats upseting for the M3 is the straight line performance... The C63 in this case has done more than its supposed to against this BMW ... Thats why the C63 is the better car (IMO)

Match the C63 with the upcoming M3 sedan... then we'll talk ..

I mean, the whole deal when these 2 cars came out was that MB claimed that they got the M3 beat at its own game. As it stands, the story is still exactly the same as when the M3 E46 and C55 were battling it out.

When a comparison between the E90 and C63 comes out, I honestly don't expect the results to me that different at all.

But if the M3 is expected to win on the track due to its weight, then isn't C 63 expected to be faster on the straight due to its 37 hp and 200 Nm advantage? So why does it make the C 63 the better car?

I dont either. Sportauto recently tested 4-door M3 on Hockenheim. The times speak for itself. There isnt much difference between Coupe and Sedan. It's not what I would call a crushing victory for the M3 Coupé.

M3 E90 vs M3 E92

0-100km/h: 4,9 / 4.8 sec
0-200km/h: 15,9 / 15,7 sec

Hockenheim: 1:14,6 / 1:14,3 min
Slalom 18m: 68,6 / 69,2 km/h

Same tires on both.

They did? Where?

I don't recall any advertisement or press release about the C63 AMG making a direct reference to the M3. If any, it was the media (car magazines, MB fanboys etc.) who did. :usa7uh:

It was the MB fanboys + me :D that claimed the C63 was going to "kill" the competition.
