I don’t think anyone on here besides @Serpens has seen the EQ suv so unless you have special eyes I don’t see how the judgement is made if you basing it on the sedan that would be wrong as the shape and profile are different .. I say rather we wait and see before we judge

This indeed looks way better than the EQ SUVs. The iX looks nicer too.

It is amazing how poorly designed the new MBs are. The company needs a huge push on every account to keep up with the increasing competition.

Not just poorly designed, but poorly managed. Which is much worse? I see no vision. No roadmap for the future. Just a bunch of subpar reactionary cars. What is their grand plan for the EQ line? There is no way their current plan is anywhere near sustainable with all these different platforms. An E class and an EQ. An S class and EQs. GLE and EQE. WTF!

Audi has been doing well with its' electric, elevated ride height vehicles. The Q6 etron will be no exception methinks, the presumed offering of both square and Sportback versions only making the model line more attractive. Not that the EQ SUVs' will be unattractive, mind you. And the iX does seem to have the tendency to "grow on people". But I suspect that the "PPE sibling" Q6 etron/e-Macan are going to hit it out of the park. We'll know for sure soon enough.

There is absolutely nothing attractive about Audi's etron cars. And stop acting as if the Macan and whatever Audi you mention are siblings. They are very distant cousins at best. Porsche doesn't want Audi's crap. They take the VAG parts they have to and then make their own car out of it.

I think if you look at it besides VW group the Germans have been in a confused stage for a while. With Mercedes it is knows that 2025 is when the full real EV stage will go into action. Your above is very much same at BMW they also in a stage where they waiting for the Newer klasse.. Sadly both Mercedes’ and BMW have been slow to react to the change in the market..Hopefully 2024 or 2025 onwards both these companies can get back into the EV game and dominate with innovative products not these stop gap products they doing now.. Mercedes’ are at a worse place for now thanks to the screw up they made regarding the chips that’s been a total nightmare BMW have handled the chip shortage the best for sure and kudos to them. Hoping that MB can get their chip balls up sorted soon and then by 2025 have good looking EV cars. On the SuV EQE and EQS I will wait till we see more to judge

BMW has a path. It has been communicated officially and I think their path is extremely smart. I do not know anything about what MB is planning for the future, it's a big cloud for me.

And VAG is equally confused. Their electric offering are mostly laughable. All ID cars and derivatives from sister brands are mediocre, rushed to the market products with poor design and quality. Granted they do have a line of EV now, so at least they have their operations going now, and I suspect the next gen of ID cars to be much better. And fused with regular cars like the Polo and Golf, because VW has this exact same problem as MB where they have a subpar icon in the Golf because of the ID3 (and MB with the S and EQS).

Love your objectivity. Did an Audi hoodline pee in your porridge ?

They cleared up their future pretty succinctly I thought last year. EQ models will begin to merge with their ICE equivalent after this generation. They laid out their platforms too- MB.EA, MMA, AMG.EA, and VAN.EA.

Oh, strong disagree on the iX looking better. I don’t feel that way at all. The EQS and EQE SUVs have a similar shape to the iX but I feel the design is worn better on the Benz. I say this as someone who thinks the iX looks better in person than pictures.

Please enlighten me about objectivity, Mr VAG ;)

Ok, so Neue Klasse and whatever MB will call they shift will be more or less the same. The difference is now then, where MB decided to offer a poor EV platform next to their ICE platform, and where BMW just uses a single platform for all types.

I really shouldn't dignify this with any further comment. I've already devoted far too much attention to your frequent nonsense.

Well MB has the new platform starting 2024 /2025 which is for the smaller cars this is a full electric platform and will replace the likes of the A class to C Class segment cars. The EQXX was the vision concept to this next step of the MB electrification. Yes obviously they bit late to the party comapred to the likes of Tesla or even some korean but i don't see how BMW are ahead reagrding the next stage of EV.

Infact the only all electric BMW right now is the IX mercedes has the EQS ..EQE.. and soon two SUV versions of full electric platform cars. Unless i am missing soemthing on the BMW front the I7 will be in a year and half that too wont be a full EV platform if i am not mistaken. The Newe Klasse is when 2025 ?

Hi @Serpens

MB EA and MMA can you just share which these are meaning the EA thr smaller cars and the MMA like the E and S or am i wrong ? And when do we expect these to start. Thanks

MMA: C/GLC and below. Capable of accommodating ICE but made for electric primarily. Not dissimilar from BMW’s Neue Klasse.

MB.EA: E/GLE and above. Evolution of current EVA2, electric only

Please, don’t put S and EQS on the same level. An EQS is no S class, in any aspect. That MB puts an S in it’s name doesn’t necessarily mean it is a S class.

May i ask what you see so far as a problem here as for me it seems ro have a nice shape ans obviously cant say more then that as the details will only be seen once the cladding comes off

I dont think we would expect a overstyled design or anything its clear Gordan and co want a clean and minimalistic design.

I understand the sedan has rhe blob look i dont see it here so trying to understand your criticism at this stage ?
Simply put it doesn’t say Mercedes. It’s an anonymous blob.

Hope really springs eternal here in GCF!

First, it was just wait for the Germans to make EVs - and they made crap like EQC and ix3 etc...
But they were "stop gap" and didn't count. So wait for them to make dedicated Evs - which they did - EQS/EQE and iX...
But now even those are stopgap? we have to wait even longer?

Which brings me to your other comment -
Sadly both Mercedes’ and BMW have been slow to react to the change in the market..
Few here called it out years ago. But was ridiculed about how no one wants EVs and it is too soon to switch. But now magically they have been too slow to react?

I have lost hope in the designs for the German brands electric cars now and the future. BMW, Mercedes and VW are bringing out designs that dont even look attractive at all, they are dog ugly and they certainly can learn alot from the Korean cars. Look how gorgeous the Ionic5, KIa EV6 and now the Genesis GV60 are. Wait till the Ionic6 comes out, it will be like a cut price Taycan. These cars will attract alot of new buyers and possibly steal many of the German car brands drivers.

Wait till the Ionic6 comes out
