Countach 2022 Countach

The Lamborghini Countach is a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car produced by Lamborghini. Predecessor: Lamborghini Miura. Successor: Lamborghini Diablo, Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4. Production: 1974-1990.
Coincidentally Lotus announced this week that they are considering building modern versions of old classics. Basically reskinning an Emira.

In their and Lamborghini‘s defence, some of their old cars have iconic designs but were unreliable and not enjoyable to drive. Therefore reimagining them with good competent underpinnings may be done with good intent.

I thought they had already done that with the Type 62-2?

I don't think I've been won over by a car so much since the current Aston Vantage came out. This thing is a winner, name be dammed.

I think it’s the best looking car off the Aventedor platform. Change my mind. Somehow I think the Aventedor would have been more successful if it looked this good

Quite the opposite actually, Aventador is as successful as it can be, because nothing else looks like it. These are just looking like cheap kit-cars. Especially this Countach tribute.

A reminder that the man behind the original, doesn't approve of it:
This is tragicomic. Haha. I agree, the new thing is kitsch when the original was avant-garde. But then again, every Lambo after the original Countach is only an iteration on the original. Every generation of the 'big Lambo' has been an impeccable, unmistakable evolution ever since. I think the Diablo series already perfected the idea. The 2022 model exhausts the Gandini idea in a total and satisfying way.

A reminder that the man behind the original, doesn't approve of it:
Of course the genius himself doesn't - the new one isn't nearly as well designed as the iconic original. It was a cash grab, using double speech to bring it close to the original - it's actually designed by a German designer with a German CEO sign off. I'm happy Gandini spoke the truth and distanced himself from the Lambo Marketing.

It was likely approved by Stefano, since Winkelmann was still full time at Bugatti.
Should have named it Countach Homage and avoided the whole backlash.

I mean that’s your opinion now isn’t it? There is no way to know which of us is right on terms of gauging the success since that never came to reality. This version of the Countach is and will remain a limited edition run.

that said, I don’t see people up in arms about the generations of the 911. I mean the 912 up to the 993 were diminutive at best. The new ones are pigs in comparison and to the purists don’t look nearly as good. Why no hate there?!?!

Old and new side by side. If I was a potential buyer of the new model, the last colour I would want my Countach is in white/grey. This is still however a jaw dropping sports car.

I have always been a big Lambo fan since I was a kid and I truly love this new Countach. It still has so much character and plays music to the ears with that beautiful sounding V12. In the right colours it will be a drop dead gorgeous car.
