Absolutely agree. Also, the transformational process has become so multinational with various partnerships primarily between Chinese, European and South Korean entities. And to an until now somewhat lesser extent, Japanese and North American. A large number of German/Austrian engineers and researchers based in China as well. European designers, while based in Europe, under contract by Chinese firms. Stefan Sielaff (Zeekr/Geely), Thomas Ingenlath (Volvo/Geely), Wolfgang Eggers (BYD Group)... Mandarin-Chinese language courses in big demand here in Germany.

Can you imagine the change that has had to take place at the German companies? They used to develop cars over a long period of time, like 5-7 years and even longer back in the 80's. They've had to do a massive pivot, and it's clearly been a struggle. It first happened when the Japanese entered the luxury car space, but that is absolutely nothing compared to the Chinese onslaught. The Japanese actually lost the luxury car fight years ago, but the Chinese.............

Question for the EV heads. Where do you find, or who has a 600Kw charger?

IONITY started installing 1,000 kW Megawatt Charging Systems in Europe a year ago. At these sites, one charging stall can charge at up to 600 kW.

The next dead end design direction for Mercedes.

Incredible.

Don't know what's worse between the front and rear.

Strongly dislike what I am seeing here.

The front looks weird, but we somehow expected this part. But the rear end is just terrible. Absolutely dreadful.

Proportions look great and I appreciate the care put on the interior.

Another point would be the side profile creases. When is MB going to offer something new? This looks too EQ-derived.

Power-wise looks quite “normal” too, right?

America will never give up on V8s. They went from 6.2 V8 up to 6.7 V8 this year, in 2026 !🦅

Yeah the Europeans will not have a V8 anymore in 10 years, so what are they going to buy? Their local cars maybe, that's all that will be left for them.

Completely out of touch with reality.

Who's reality is that? Your country? As long as there is a market they will build a V8 variant for select markets. That beauty of being a big company like BMW or Mercedes or VW. Only the small time luxury brands cry about not being able to build a V8.

I like the rear a lot. Looks cool.
Front is not great, but it can be saved with a facelift if they just copy the GT coupe and slap it on there with a filled in grille.

Tech looks good. There will be tech transfer obviously and they'll keep developing the platform over time.

I think this car is so late because they waited to integrate YASAs technology into their pipeline from 2021 and that took time. But hopefully it should pay dividends in the long run.

I wonder when they decided to make the light bar optional. That was a change from what I had seen previously. I’m glad they listened to customers.

To the folks saying this car isn’t beautiful, I remind your Wagener wanted the full AMG models to pass the “Batman” test and look hyper aggressive. I don’t think this will last long and that front end is already absent from future plans.

As for the power figures, no they are not groundbreaking. What is supposed to be groundbreaking is how well the car drives. In any event, this car is too expensive and will be easy to ignore.
