M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

AutoBild Sportscars' Supertest of the M4 Competition is also out. On Cup 2 tyres they managed 3.6 and 11.4 seconds 0-100/200 kph. The engine produced 522 PS as measured and the car lapped the Sachsenring in 1:32.76, a second slower than M8 Competition.

Wow.
This is almost 2s quicker than the M4CS on Cup2! This insane! (M4CS time in 2018 was 1:34,63)
It is also only 0,4s shy of the 992 Carrera S time (1:32,36 in 2019)
Yes, the Carrera S was not on "official" semis, but on UUHP tires with N designation. Those are not far off semis!
This laptime is absolute remarkable.

From the various scans posted by @Soup today, thanks by the way, those photos in action are spectacular, it makes its intentions clear performance wise and visually it reminds me of the E30 and E46 when they were photographed at the limit, this new M4 echoes that feeling in me

Was over at M today. Testing of a further high performance M4 variant has begun.
Additional Aerodynamic aids but something entirely new, A new trunk with integrated spoiler.
I suppose you are talking about CS, it would be good to know something more about that, because if so, it is quite early and leaves the table served in terms of time to also present the so endearing CSL

According to the recent historical past the new CS could be around 450 hp and the CSL around 600 I hope

I think, you meant 550hp for the CS.
IMHO, an integrated trunklid spoiler is a strong hint towards CSL, not CS.
The last M3 with a trunk decklid spoiler integration was the E46 M3 CSL. CS models only had tapped on/glued CFK spoilers ...

I just did check the sportscars supertest of the M4 Competition.
Tested weight was 1695kg. Full tank and car equipped with track package.
The author mentioned (this was on point), that the whole blabla in the internet about the new generation M4 being up to 200kg heavier is absolute nonsense.
In fact the G82 is 60kg heavier than the predecessor. He compared a F82 Competition model with DCT and CCB with the G82 test car.
Is a plus of 60kg positive? Nope. But it is neglectable taking into account the advancements of the G82 over F82.
... and it is hilarious, when you see internet forum posters lamenting over 60kg in a 1600kg+ car, where on the same time they could most likely shred off 30kg from their fat asses and bellies, which have a much worse impact on the cars CoG, since they are positioned rather high in the car :p

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
