A thorough facelift it may be, but I do like how it looks. I just wish everything under the skin was thoroughly updated.

Lexus sells so few sporty (RWD) cars, that if they made more powerful versions they would at least sell more (in NA market). The IS 500 (M340i competitor) is rumored to come, but not updating the interior as they did with the exterior is beyond stupidity and a waste of many potential sales.

This exterior facelift is way more extensive than what the 3rd gen X5/X6 got, yet their tiny interior update was plenty enough to be brand new.

IMO the best looking side profile of any 4 door car. Tops all my favorites.

All show and no go.

Right, but in Western Europe that is the case with most BMW/Audi/Mercedes, powered by 4 cylinder diesels (now more petrols). Very few powerful engines are sold. In the US it seems ever 3 Series has a turbo 6 compared to the slow Camry V6.

Doesn't matter, this car is still outgunned. That has absolutely nothing to do with what is mostly sold. I can buy a M340i or C43 that will hand this car it's lugnuts. Furthermore, this car even in IS350 trim is no faster than a 4-cylinder Gulia or 330i so there goes that argument. It's the same old car from 2006, 2010, 2015 with new makeup and the same V6 from 2006.

The IS500 cant come soon enough and any Hybrid powertrain. Lexus are now way behind the times with their powertrains. This is a desirable car but is let down by its ageing internals.

Can't see Lexus keeping up with the Germans regarding the sedans. In Europe Lexus will only sell the ES and LS going forward. The rest of the line up will be SUVs.

Taking into account how miserable the LS figures probably are, maybe there is no new LS either...

Long term any low car even German will not keep up with the disease like spread of blobs (cuvs).

So any other low car that quits the market is another nail on the coffin of German low cars so many say to love.

If BEV will be what will become powertrain of choice in this class, then perhaps that's where they may take the LS. They did release an electric LS concept soon after the production car made its debut. Also they released a "long-roof" 5-door concept, so perhaps they may the BEV powertrain if the 3-box design continues to wane in popularity.

If they did a V8 IS500 I would replace my IS with it.

Oh goodness, I can't wait to see it. It would be too much to ask for it to have the V8, but the 415hp turbo V6 from the LS500 will do. Too bad that won't solve the outdated interior.

Reveal on Monday, February 22nd, 2021, at 11:00AM EST (5:00PM for Paris).

I hope it's really something. IS F, LC F, something real. In a perfect world it would be a IS F, LS F and RC F all at once, a gut punch.
