The same can be said of Honda and Nissan with respect to the engine department. There seems to be little investment going into the engine development these days. I could be wrong.

They dont have to replace this car but just give it a much more modern engine line up and some Hydrid powertrain as well then it possibly be a great challenger for the big Germans.

This is a very impressive new IS. The only thing is I wish they had new engines.

Easily Lexus' best ever design. It's as good looking as MK1 that Lexus failed to properly succeed.
Did you know that the first IS was made to the exact scale and proportions as the E36 BMW 3er?
BMW imported two from Japan As soon as it hit the Japanese market. One to benchmark and one for a competitive strip down.
I still maintain to this day that the extra research helped make the E46 to become the perfect all rounder that even all 3er that have succeeded E46 has become.

Both the F-sport and standard version have a very dynamic look with a heck of alot of presence. This car is very stylish and sharp.

I actually like the interior alot. At first it appears to be a carry over, but look at the center console and the small details and its a modernized version of the previous style. The center console buttons look like touch sensitive capacative buttons/switches.

I wonder if people will lose their shit over the huge grille?

It looks amazing but it’s 15 years old underneath. If they had updated the engines it would be worth a look.

This car looks amazing, the outside styling probably is the best in this class but the interior is nice but not revolutionary step up on the previous model and not in the same league of the 3-series. The engine in the video seems very quiet and hushed at low speeds but has a lovely sound when given some beans. The back seat legroom seems a bit cramped maybe compared to rivals.

It looks striking in blue and with nice coloured interior. The ventilation controls look quirky and it has very cramped leg and headroom in the back.

The LS has always been cramped in the back.

Yes Lexus dont seem to learn from the previous models weaknesses by designing the car to have more space. I remember sitting in the previous model and it was even cramped for me in the front with very little elbow space.

It's the same car from 2006 right down to the 3.5L V6. More room will have to wait for a truly new model, if there is one.

The styling looks great but interior and powertrain are its weaknesses. Lexus could have done more to this car.

As cool as a naturally aspirated engine sounds, it's pace is a generation behind the B58 in the Supra and M340i. I dread to speculate on the real life fuel consumption of the IS 350.

The IS 500 (with TTV6) can fix the power issue, but nothing can fix the interior, that while having a wonderfully designed layout has an outdated styling. Hope the GR86 gets a real update, also to compensate the gone RC.

I guess when sedans were more fashionable there would be a new platform for a new IS/GS/RC but that won't happen now. Oh well.

With the way things are going, I am doubtful that a) the purported use of the new Mazda RWD will be emplyoed on future RWD-based Lexus, and b) that Mazda will even continue to pursue developing that platform.
