Here's an update to our previous discussion in this thread.

SUV sales in Germany nearly trippled from 2001 to 2010.

Anyone who can translate or sumarize

They claim it´s a nice car for a family man, better than the current one and funnier to drive.

EDIT: I´ve read the entire preview and they talk about top quallity interior and what I guess it´s a double clutch transmission

They claim it´s a nice car for a family man, better than the current one and funnier to drive.

Ok cool do they say anything about the interior or quality..The latest pics it does look a lot sleeker then teh current car.

They say that the interior quality is much better than the current one. Also they talk of the new comand which has the size of an iPad

Using Google Translate, I was able to deduce:

Carsten Paulun in October 2011 launched the new Mercedes B-Class. Editor Carsten Paulun was with Eva Greiner (35), project manager new Mercedes compact cars, and a still-camouflaged prototype. Despite various adhesive films seen good: It stays with neat little van design, spiced up with a game in front of the Mercedes gull-wing style SLS. On the space of a little flatter, longer and wider and B-class does not change much. But: "I sit on no more, but in the car, " says project manager Eva Greiner. And indeed, even in the passenger seat I travel more relaxed, with not quite as straight legs and not as straight back as before. In addition, the B-class is variable, there's a surcharge sliding rear seats.

The fun's already one when boarding: convenient and easy. The cockpit is protected even in a cloth from prying eyes. But every now again something flashed by - as the iPad-style detached Navi-Monitor, in the style of a jet engine styled air vents or polished aluminum with engraved patterns rally. It all looks very high quality. In contrast to Eva Greiner and her team once again ran the chassis. A hard roll, and occasional jerking still bear witness to prototype status of our test car.

All engines come from the larger C-class, rich first 120-204 hp. Instead of the elderly converter automatic double-clutch transmission is offered. (To download the possibility to leave the battery in the role and brakes) start-stop technology and regenerative braking are standard equipment on board. 2013, then follow the electric power and fuel cell or battery. The price of future Mercedes B-class should be based on the current model - and starts at 24,500 euros currently.

Its a German ice cream truck. Hate that shape and hope that model never comes to the U.S.

The shape absolutely kills it. Probably serves its purposes for being a small luxury passenger van, just don't know why MB decides it needs something like this in its line up.

It looks nice enough for what it is. Definitely appears to be higher in quality and better built.

Did I mention that I hate this little bread van?

M

Not exactly feeling the shape, but it will certainly look better than its predecessor. Couple that with a (hopefully) nice interior, like Autocar's initial review indicates, and this car looks to be an improvement.

The surface lines could end up being a disaster, though. In my opinion, the CLS takes it just far enough, and anything beyond the CLS's rising line is going to look too messy. I'll wait for official pictures, though, should come around August.

Mercedes is going to be putting on quite a show for IAA 2011.

So it's a hideously shaped thing, with wayyy to much "lipstick" on it (hideous nonsensical lines/surfacing)....

Europeans really buy this thing?

Compared to American's taste in those big, technically inferior, heavy pick-up trucks, it's certainly a marvel of engineering :D

I hate the A and B-class as they currently are, but they certainly find their clients. Howver, BMW and Audi's entrey-levels are much more interesting and successful.

This B-Class... well I think the lines will certainly help making the car more interesting visually, more tensed, less tall.

Quite curious to see the result, but I'm much much more interested in the "hot-hatch" A-Class.
