A8/S8 2011 Audi A8 (D4) Picture Thread

Yeah looking at the interior and then the exterior makes you want to cry. If this car only had a exterior to match that interior, everything else in the segment would be run over. Oh well. Maybe the LWB and W12 models will add something to spice up the exterior. I just can't get over how much it looks like a giant A4.

That's exactly my problem. It especially sucks because I was quite vocal and kept telling people to give this car a chance...and then it really does look like a big ass A4. I'm not saying it's a bad design, hell I think it's gorgeous and much better than the 7er, but it brings absolutely NOTHING new to the table. That is my issue. But I'm sure I will like it in real life, because I already like it in pics. I just want to see it in real life so I can look at the REAL details in natural lighting and see how it stands up to the "Big Ass A4" title we have given it.

IMO...form a 'BMW enthusiast perspective'...the F01 has many followers and MANY are from people who loves their Merc's and Audi's. A great balanced design and it has presence!

Audi A8: The new one has PRESENCE, a lovely interior and the design is also balanced. The car is NOT what Martin Winterkorn promised in terms of styling, a nice sleek sporty design YES! Though its is VERY evolutionary and does look very A4'ish wich is not a good thing.
I must be honest...in the end previous A8 buyers and current owners WILL buy A8 again not the F01 or S-class are that much better overall to persuade them A8 owners otherwise.
Least I like is the Headlights...sis man! and the dashboard upper half is very 'bland' and the trim running through from left to right in the middle of the dash in 'alluminum' looks f-ken cheap! ...Thus get wood trim! Thats my only critisizem...All 3 Germans has their own unique 'thing' and non of them are or could ever be bad cars - the choice and the beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder AND the guy/girl who writes and signs the check!

It really does. I guess that's the benefit of being under the VAG umbrella.

Mind the interior features we can see lately in A8 pics are a part of OPTIONAL features (eg. rear entertainment system, adjustable rear seats, extended alu trim, some wood trims as a part of Audi Design Selection, special optional leather, MMI Plus with handwrite recognition, B&O sound system etc)

We figured it out is some posts in the past such options could reach a price (in total) of about 50% of base car price.

So, yes - if you pay a premium - you can get all the good stuff. But then - you can opt for Bentley CFS.

Same with every other german brand - if you want the full luxury package, you have to get every single option… …and still with full options the A8 is at the same price level like Merc and BMW!

Sure. But all that extra special wood & alu & leather in the rear (& front) is optional. A8 in base standard package doesn't look much special than base S-class or 7er.

But at least Audi offers such features as option, while in 7er & S-class case customers have to pick Individual / Designo options.

Audi decided to go tour-de-options in the show cars. Fully packed. I'm interested what the people reaction is when they see the price for the displayed car & its option.

But fully packed - the A8 already reaches deep into Bentley territory. C'mon - in some pics rear compartment in A8 looks better than the one in Mulsanne.
