Accord '08 Honda Accord exposed

The Honda Accord, also known as the Honda Inspire in Japan and China for certain generations, is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States since 1989. The Accord nameplate has been applied to a variety of vehicles worldwide, including coupes, station wagons, hatchbacks and a Honda Crosstour crossover.
It's not bad for an Accord...but could Honda be any more unoriginal. This is just a mish mash of styling ripoffs.

I think it looks pretty good - even if it does share styling ques with such vehicles from Hyundai, etc.

Thank God they replaced those ridiculous front end head lamps. Now that they've done that, I feel the '08 Accord is more reminiscent of the below model.

Accord lost it's lines & typical styling but still, it'll sell like hot-cakes :) ...!

Man ....is that what the current North American Accord looks like? :eusa_doh: -- it's so old fashioned -- looks like its from 1990 ........why do they sell you guys such antique-looking cars?

No mate.

That's the one sold in North America between 1998 to 2002.

This is the current Accord Sedan sold in North America.

And this is the current Accord Coupé:

The sedan is bland as it gets and the coupé reminds me of the old Ford Cougar.

Thanks Kowalski, I realized after I posted that I had made a boo boo. I saw Osna's new Accord coupé the other day.

The coupe is very nice & interesting... while the sedan is bland as always.

Oh ...have you.

You must think I'm a jerk ......well I'm sure it looks amazing in real life :D ;)

Lol.. :)

I know most think a car enthusiast cannot be happy with a car like an Accord - after all, It's not fast, nor particularly interesting to drive - but I still like my car very much (even it's styling!).
:t-cheers:

-- Not at all Bruce ...I was joking. I didn't really have any opinion about your choice of car at all, Honda make very good cars actually ...I have always thought they were very good.

I know you were joking. :t-cheers:

I just thought I'd take the opportunity to explain that I love my Honda. :D

The coupé looks great, it exceeds my expectations. But for the sedan, I prefer the current one (especially the Euro Accord), the new one doesn't look like an improvement at all.

The V6 is pretty fast - I mash the pedal at any speed and the sucker just takes off. Interesting though... well, I'll concede to you there. It's no 3 series.

I like the styling of the current Accord in the sense that it doesn't get much wrong. Honda has a consistency in their design that stretches back about 20 years - anal retentive, and very Japanese. I don't like that my Accord Coupe has a direct riff off of Mercedes Benz, but if you consider it's position on the automotive totem pole, it carries itself quite well.

Given all that, it's almost remarkable that the '08 Accord has come out looking so good - and not directly derivative of anything. I think the Coupe is going to be a huge it - "but the syling" has almost always been a contingency with Honda. The last time I remember a Honda being widely embraced as stylish was the '88 CRX.

Josh, correct me if I'm wrong, but you're Accord coupe has 240bhp does it not?

My 00 is also a six cylinder, but 'only' has 200bhp. Either way, I suppose I shouldn't say they are slow... but as we both agree, it's no 3er.

That's right. Mine is an '04, with 240hp. Far as acceleration goes, I'm completely satisfied - the car just books whenever you ask it to. When it comes to handling though, there's plenty room for improvement.

Word has it that the '08 Accord V6 will sport something in the range of 280hp. That's an awful lot of power being delivered to the front wheels.

I can vouch for that.

No kidding, eh.

It'll be interesting to see what they give it in terms of power - especially as the Type-S TL is boasting 3.5 litres with 286hp, while the standard model is running with 3.2 litres and 258hp.

We'll see..

Personally I think this new accord looks really good, the front reminds me of the new EVO!
