Masterpiece: A natural, picturesque landscape right next to a high-tech factory
A natural, picturesque landscape right next to a high-tech factory. In Leipzig, that’s a perfect fit. Already net carbon neutral, the Porsche plant is preparing for the future one step at a time. The next milestone will follow at the end of the year when the site kicks off production of an all-electric SUV. But it doesn’t end there. Porsche plans to continue pursuing this path. Behind a simple wooden fence, a wild ox stands calmly in the pasture surrounded by his herd. Measuring 1.6 meters at the shoulders and weighing in at around 700 kilograms, this ox with powerful horns is a rare sight that visitors can enjoy close-up in northwestern Leipzig. Grazing on the grasses and herbs, the imposing animal also enjoys an extraordinary view...
Fourth generation of the Cayenne also to be built in Bratislava
Porsche AG is laying the groundwork for the further electrification of its model lines: The sports car manufacturer has decided to manufacture the future all-electric Cayenne at Volkswagen Slovakia’s multi-brand location in Bratislava. After the Taycan (since 2019), the Macan (in 2024) and the 718 (middle of the decade), the Cayenne will become the sports car manufacturer’s fourth model line with an all-electric powertrain. Porsche has already announced a further all-electric SUV above the Cayenne for the second half of the decade. That model will be produced at the Porsche factory in Leipzig. Albrecht Reimold, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Porsche, knows the strengths of the multi-brand plant in Bratislava...
911 – One Icon. Two Extremes.
Mankind has been searching for eternal youth for millennia, a goal that has become a reality in the automotive world. The 911 is timeless, always young, and attractive, thanks in large part to the strong genes of the original 911 from 1963. But the continuous momentum of the iconic 911 is rooted in portfolio management that is forever unearthing new character traits, which also plays a key role. “We cater for a wide range of lifestyles with the 911 derivatives,” says Michael Steiner, the Member of the Executive Board responsible for Development. “Our youngest protagonists are called GT3 RS and Dakar. Creativity and ability in development and series ensure the uniqueness and desirability of our brand.” Porsche Newsroom

Intelligent platform strategies reduce the time and costs involved in developing electric vehicles. Porsche Engineering has extensive expertise in platform development and supports its customers from the initial concept idea all the way to the production-maturity vehicle. The result is platforms that are flexible and positioned for the future. One single platform for a multitude of vehicle models: This approach has been followed for years now for combustion-engine vehicles, helping to develop a large number of different models and derivatives and to bring vehicles to series production at justifiable expenditure of time and money. 911 Dakar: probably the most versatile sports chassis in the world
Ice and rally tracks, desert seas and scree: for optimum handling, Porsche combines the off-road characteristics of an SUV with the agility of a sports car in the 911 Dakar. Achim Lamparter uses superlatives sparingly. The General Project Manager for the Porsche 911 Dakar prefers not to claim his car has the most versatile chassis in the world. But then he gets more specific: “It’s the most versatile for a sports car, yes. The Dakar is definitely the vehicle with the broadest spread of capabilities in this segment.” In comparison to a “normal” 911 with a sports suspension, the 911 Dakar is supported by struts that raise the body 40 millimeters higher above the ground. The standard all-terrain tires with high sidewalls add a further...
Curves around the world: from slow-motion sightseeing to the upper limits
Whether in the primeval forest of Malaysia or the fjord landscape of Norway, Stefan Bogner – publisher of ‘Curves’ magazine – was on the road again last year, driving some of the most beautiful routes in the world. He takes a look back in the Newsroom. Beautiful beaches, turbulent cities, dense jungle: Southeast Asia is known for all of these things. However, the islands and peninsulas between the Indian and Pacific oceans have much more to offer, especially for petrolheads like Stefan Bogner and his team. Bogner travelled throughout Malaysia for ‘Curves’ magazine, on two routes between the east and west coasts, around 1,600 kilometres north and nearly 1,000 km south. “We had just driven hundreds of kilometres on German roads and...

From the racetrack at the Formula One Australian Grand Prix to rugged Tasmania: motor racing champion and Porsche Brand Ambassador Mark Webber knows how to put a sportscar to the test. He drives the Taycan Cross Turismo and shares his passion for Porsche electric innovation on some of Australia’s best driving roads. Tasmania has plenty to boast about. Smaller than Ireland but larger than Switzerland, Australia’s island state is as spectacular as both, thanks in part to a network of roads that cut through its endless natural scenery. Porsche owners such as Mark Webber will tell you they are roads that were made for sportscars. “The asphalt is like a ribbon through these beautiful rolling hills,” he says while cresting a curve in...

The adventurers share their experiences in the Newsroom. India is booming: Before the end of this year, India is set to replace China as the world's most populous country, then with 1.6 billion people. The economy is also on the rise. Guards Red, Racing Yellow, Carrara White Metallic – just a few of the familiar names for colours from the Porsche Car Configurator. Now a brilliantly rich green will join the palette. Michael Essmann, a long- standing Porsche lover and Managing Director of family business Elektro Essmann, has had his very own individual colour made within the scope of the Paint to Sample Plus range. Testing of the new Porsche Cayenne reaches the home straight
Porsche is meticulously preparing the new Cayenne for its launch. Until then, the prototypes and pre-production vehicles are being subjected to challenging endurance tests to ensure that they meet Porsche’s high quality standards. Following its launch in 2017, Porsche has consistently enhanced the third generation of the Cayenne with far-reaching measures affecting its powertrain, chassis, design, equipment and connectivity. “It’s one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche,” says series manager Michael Schätzle. In addition to realigning the drive portfolio, the engineers at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach made major revisions to the Cayenne’s chassis system. The aim was to achieve an even wider...
Porsche Vision 357: homage to the first Porsche model line, the 356
75 years ago, on 8 June 1948, the 356 No. 1 Roadster became the first automobile bearing the name Porsche to receive its general operating permit – the birth of the sports car brand. Porsche is now embarking on its anniversary year with the Porsche Vision 357 and a reference to the Porsche 356 – the dream of Ferry Porsche of a sports car. As an homage to this, the design study brings the monolithic form into the present day. Liberated from the regulations that apply for implementation as a series model, the Style Porsche Team manifests potential expressions of the future design philosophy: one example is the consistent enhancement of the light signature, which is both progressive and visionary in the way it points towards the future...
Seventy five years of Porsche sports cars
In 1948, Ferry Porsche realised his dream of a sports car: with his team, he produced the Porsche 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster. It marked the birth of a legendary brand and laid the foundation for an exemplary success story, for the Porsche legend. “75 years of Porsche stand for pioneering spirit, passion and dreams. We are celebrating together with people who are inspired by dreams,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. The celebrations kick off with the special exhibition ‘Driven by Dreams. 75 years of Porsche sports cars’, which opens on 27 January in the ‘DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum’ in Berlin and will run until 10 September 2023. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the visions and...
The technology of the new Porsche 963 hypercar/GTP prototype in detail
The Porsche 963 banks on powerful DNA from RS Spyder and 918 Spyder. On 16 December 2020, Porsche announced its commitment to developing an LMDh prototype for racing from January 2023. The prospect of fielding a vehicle in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship proved to be the deciding factor for the Executive Board’s decision at Porsche AG. Less than five months later, Porsche divulged its close partnership with Team Penske. The new Porsche Penske Motorsport team for international racing was born. The squad operates out of two locations: The IMSA headquarters is in the American team’s home of Mooresville, North Carolina, with the WEC operations run from Mannheim...
Braking for more
Battery electric vehicles place new demands on the chassis, particularly when it comes to braking and recuperation. Developers at the Porsche Group are working on new concepts for brake force distribution which will enable better recuperation — without compromising comfort. Chassis developers are challenged by electrification on two fronts: Batteries make the vehicles heavier but, on the other hand, the vehicles often exhibit better driving dynamics. Both of these factors usually necessitate a more powerful hydraulic wheel brake. However, this reduces efficiency and sacrifices range because the weight increases and consumption rises. The Porsche Taycan gets by without a larger brake system—thanks to recuperation: As soon as the driver...
2022 deliveries: Porsche posts a slight increase
Porsche put in a robust performance in fiscal year 2022, with a slight increase in deliveries. The sports car manufacturer delivered a total of 309,884 cars over the past 12 months, 3 per cent more than in 2021 – despite several global crises. Porsche fulfills the dreams of its customers, as strong delivery figures and the continued good order situation for fiscal year 2022 demonstrate. Worldwide, the sports car manufacturer delivered 309,884 vehicles to customers last year, an increase of 3 per cent over the previous year. “The many challenges caused by the war in Ukraine, interrupted supply chains and the ongoing semiconductor crisis have shaped the past year and put us to the test,” says Detlev von Platen, Executive Board Member...
Porsche fine-tunes E-Performance for future series models
Porsche is picking up speed on electromobility. Thanks to a clearly defined roadmap, by 2025 more than half of all new Porsche cars sold are expected to be electrified – either fully or as plug-in hybrids. By 2030, the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer’s target is for more than 80 per cent of its new car deliveries to be fully electric models. Premium Platform Electric (PPE) is just one of the tools the company is deploying to fulfil this ambition. This platform will give Porsche the opportunity to profitably market high-volume models to high technical standards and thereby electrify a further important part of the portfolio. Developed together by Porsche and Audi With PPE, Porsche and Audi have together developed an architecture...
