Lamp Post

Shot this just a little while ago. Set on AEB, three exposures +2, 0, -2 but no HDR treatment. JPG original at Fine Large and EF-S 60mm Macro f/2.8. Used Bracketeer which blends but does not tone map. Used a channel to darken the area around the lamp. Wish it was dark with the bulb lit....

I figured I wanted this shot to look a bit "colorless" but not completely black and white so I decreased the saturation.

I too have very recently took a great interest in Panoramic photos. It's really amazing what scenery can be captured using the Panoramic technique!

I'll second Giannis' question in asking what program you use? I've found 2 good ones myself, but I'm holding back on purchasing one of them as I've been too busy to really trial out panoramic shots. So which program do you use for it Dominic ?
Also, approximately (in % terms) how much overlapping did you have between each photo?

Thanks! I use Photoshop CS4..You can do it with other programs as well. This was my first panorama.

I've read somewhere that it has to be 40% overlapping, that's why I took 17 photos so that it gets all alined correctly.

Thanks! It took some time, because of the cheap tripod I was shooting with.

Oh, btw..Today I had an accident trying to get a nice photo..I climbed on a rock with my camera in bag and tripod and I slipped when I was going down. Luckily, only my as* was hurt, the camera was in bag, protected.

I tried that same feature on the version of P'shop I have, but it didn't turn out right, but I don't think I applied that ~40% overlap rule.
Just like HDRs, Panoramic photography is a totally new and fascinating world to keep you busy and keep you challenged.

Oh thank goodness, as long as the camera is okay then all is well. Just kidding, good to hear you didn't hurt yourself too much. The pursuit of that perfect shot sometimes leads us photographers into some very risky situations... but it's all worth it!

Early morning and Hi ISO

Lot's of discussion about Canon 50D Hi ISO and noise on the forums. This was shot at ISO 1600, 1/60 @ f/6.3 in JPG Fine Large, cropped about 50%, CR4 Noise Reduction. If I can get this kind of quality at ISO 1600, let the pixel peepers play their games and I will shoot pictures...
