4 Series World Premiere - BMW Concept 4

The BMW 4 Series is a range of compact executive cars manufactured by BMW since 2013. The 4 Series was created when BMW spun off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the 3 Series into a separate series.
The car looks fantastic @domleo999
Side and rear are brilliant. And the front is getting more awesome with the minute. Yay. Fresh air.

Go hug your overpriced boat of a VW, @LaArtist, and save typing yourself those rants

Agree! As a current 4er owner..I'll certainly be getting the next if it follows this concept :)

The only thing is - the hoffmiester is the wrong way!

There is so much going on that it's impossible to tell what the production car will look like with a license plate over the grille.

Also – I thought coupe like models were getting inverted grilles (8er, X6, 2er GC…) whys this the anomaly?

I hope they don’t go down the MB route, and start sticking their M grilles on M performance models…

I must say I’m pretty surprised I was expecting more backlash from this forum so far the reception isn't as bad as I thought or maybe it’s because most of the negative members are on my ignore list? I’m glad BMW have the balls to go bold, I’d love to hear what Chris Bangle thinks about this in the future.

He's here.

85% I would say towards production same as THE 8 Concept from 2017.
There is a lot of debate, praise and even revulsion which I find delicious indeed.:D
The M3 is also going to be wearing this front.

Scott, at what point did the design team thought...yes this is the grill.

I was hoping for the front end to look similar to the BMW 3.0 Hommage concept.

Lol you are just sad your favorite company looks like it’s from the middle age..

I'm sorry but this...

... is frikken Ugly AF.

It looks f#cken stupid man, like one of those joke photoshops of other Beemers with comically oversized kidneys pasted on top. Sorry, my beloved BMW - I... just... can't... :dead:

The only positive thing I can say about this front end is that BMW did a great job with the hood shut-line. To get the leading edge of the bonnet to fold and crease to follow the outline of the grill must have been a challenge, and all for such a fugly look.

Compared to this??? Sorry Marcus but sometimes you are just fishing

Also a little tired of people picking on BMW for their large grilles.... they are still much smaller than the Audi/ Benz counterparts and IMO executed much more tastefully. Case in point the ugly C class classic grille I added to this post

What I’m sorry about most is butt hurt BMW fanboys making it about Mercedes when they can’t take any criticism about BMW. It’s so petty and weak. I said that they need to tone down the front. That is my opinion on it. What does that have to do with Mercedes? Nothing. The grille you posted has active shutters and it’s terrible looking, feel better now?

I think it will take me a moment to combine all the emotions that it transmits to me, and to say that about a car is a lot.

Seeing that front the word "inspiring" comes to mind

It is like those dream coupes measured last century, evoking debauchery, an aura of sportsmanship without ties, the freedom of a world that was more optimistic, those cars we saw in old movies and that we always dreamed of having but it was impossible, shoulders straight inflated but at the same time round, different, bad etc etc, when everyone is cowering and canceling their coupes there are people who show passion and self-confidence, beyond sales, since 2002 going through the e21 until that we are seeing today, this is always has been and will be the model that defines the brand and so they demonstrate

Exactly that. It’s not its sheer size that bothers me, it’s the shape and lack of depth and definition. Instead, it looks ornamental. The Alfa comparison stands to reason but is still off as the cuore is integrated more smoothly into most current or recent Alfa faces. On this concept, you could easily imagine a number of other kidney shapes that would work.
And what’s up with the small painted triangle at the bottom of the kidneys‘ interconnection? Would have been more consistent and interesting with this spike as part of the air intake. (The hood, however, is sculpted beautifully, and I guess the reverse Hofmeister helps the silhouette to look much more dynamic and less Camino :) than that of the 8er.)

The Hommage CSL version of „tall kidneys“ on the other hand, exudes something really sporty, organic, and simple. Hopefully, we‘ll see those reduced designs (Hommage cars, VFL as well) in production someday. I fear we won’t.
