Why Are BMW & Mercedes-Benz Getting So Ugly

The V-Class is an excellent MPV, much better than the 5-Series GT, and I see do see it everyday. Most common usage is as VIP car for celebs.

LMAO!!!
The V class is a better MPV than the SLK too :bonk::bonk::bonk::all_cohol
V class is a workhorse, nothing more. For plumbers and carpenters, who need the space.

Anyways, a thread with this title and such a subject needs to be in the Garbage Bin, and not the Pit. Can a mod please change it???

The V-Class is an absolute nightmare. I know it, i drove one. It feels like shit to drive, is poorly build, unreliable, rusts like hell. Awful vehicle.

Lots of space though, very practical vehicle.

Well, that is because it is a workers vehicle. Like a VW Transporter.

Well, even for a worker's vehicle, the first gen Vito/V-Class are very far from the Mb standards.
And the V-Class was sold as a passenger vehicle, with a passenger's vehicle's price...

My point exactly, the V-class is not of the usual MB standard. That does not matter at all. Mercedes-Benz is a brand that is diverse enough to release vehicles like this. It does not harm their image. They procuce the Arctus for god's sake. They make some of the best and most prestigious cars on earth and can still get away with a car like the V-class. No other premium brand in Germany could do that. A relative of mine was the CEO of Mercedes Sweden some years ago and he told me that the diversity of the MB brand is simply stunnig, you can do anything, as long as you keep the core producs what they always were.

Say they redesigned the whole line of cars for Merc and BMW, how can you be sure that you'll like the design?

To me Audi still has the best looking lineup as a whole, not a truly "ugly" car in the bunch. BMW has the 1-Series and Mercedes has the R-Class (at least in the U.S) that aren't to everyone's liking. Other than those (and they are arguable) I don't see any truly ugly cars in BMW or Mercedes' lineups. I wouldn't buy an A3 either, but it has more to do with an American hatchback prejudice than its styling.

M

Well BMW has the current X3 as well. The R-class really isn't ugly, the only thing I don't like is the headlights. I think Audi keep their cars straight forward so there really anything dramatic about their line to be considered "ugly" as you pointed out.

Even though I am not fond of the new E-class because of the boxy shape (it does look good in person though) the entire MB family is on point. I guess when the W140 was around everything looked plain and straight forward, MB really didn't have any special lines and curves...so :t-hands:

It's really a matter of personal taste.
