Z Series Which Z4 M would you rather have?

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.

For all intensive purposes, you have the same car, with the same engine, and all that. Only one is a sexy droptop with the BMW famous straight-six ringing in your ears, and the other is a stiff coupe with a fastback look to it. Which would you rather have in your stable?

Same, easier to live with and better performance. In terms of looks, both are equally good looking imo.

hmmmm.....I'm going to be in the minority here, but I would get the M Roadster. A 2 seater is going to be a "fun" car for me, and a big part of the "fun" is open top driving in nice weather. I'll gladly give up on some body rigidity of the coupe for that......afterall, I'm not skilled enough to take these cars to their handling limits safely on everyday roads.

And face it guys, the M Roadster is already a VERY GOOD handling car.

of course but not good enough :D I have a feeling the Coupe is more fun to drive than the Roadster. Besides I like the design better on the Coupe.

I have the feeling that honestly most of us couldn't tell the difference.

I personally would go with the coupe. I love the roadster don't get me wrong, and would definitely want one if there wasn't the option for a coupe or I was in a sporty sporty mood, however, I can't get my mind off the fact that the coupe is so stunning and may be lighter and more stable than the roadster.

Not only that, I would feel like I would have a way more solid car than a roadster.

You took the words right out of my mouth....

Yes, the M-coupe will be faster around Nurburgring, Hockenheim, and the test tracks of Top Gear and Evo, but I don't think any of us can drive like that on everyday roads.

If you do plan to track the car regularly, I agree that you should definitely get a coupe over a convertible. For all those other times (which is >95% of the time for most of us), the M Roadster will feel just as good as the M Coupe when driving enthusiastically on everyday roads.

Styling, of course, is a whole different matter. I also agree with most of you that the M Coupe is a better looking car (slightly). But I would still want that open top experience of the M Roadster instead.

i say coupe just because i like the looks so much better. I was riding around with a few friends of mine a few weekends ago and a m3 conv pulled up next to us at a stoplight and my friends and i were having the same convo about wheter or not you would feel the diference and we all said that as long as you are not a pro driver it would be hard to. And one of these guys races his porsche.

Definately the coupe, firstly it looks better and is also better and more fun to drive!

Also it costs less!

thats true, but its with like big engines, its not like you can use a 500hp car very much without risking things but you like the feeling to have a big engine, its the same with a good handling car, you like the feeling to have a good handling car but it doesnt mean you can use max of it, again its the feeling IMO.
Also if I bought a performance car I would take it to a track as often as possible (very popular thing here in Sweden) and I rather be playing with the Coupe than a Roadster.

Like I said before, I like the Coupe better ,besides I live in Sweden, having a convertible is pointless thanks to weather. Z4M Coupe for me.... :usa7uh:

Well the poll says it all.

The roadster is hot, but the coupe is hotter!

If i was ever gonna buy a Z4 it would be definitely a roadster. I know the coupe is more practical that the cabrio, it handles better, and overall it is a better car, but, sorry, cabrio for me

The Z4 was initialy designed as a cabrio, and it looks better to me. Also the greek weather makes me, right now, beg for a cabrio. It's 32 deg. Celcium outside and i'm home with the A/C on at full!

The coupe for me as well, but i will take a Wiesmann GT over both
