Refreshed Mercedes-AMG C43 and C63 Coupes Spied Testing

Interesting to see two different styling for the exhaust tips, so I am guessing circular tips for the "43" and the square tips for the "63"?

The headlights on the refresh are far more attractive
than the current model. The eyebrow drls are aligned with the housing.

The "43" might be changed to the "53" this time
around. Looks like it is getting real exhaust tips instead of the fake ones on the "43"
-just one indicater "53" will produce a serious exhaust concert.

I just read in AMS the FL, will also get the I6 petrol and diesel engines. On the petrol side a C450 (367hp) and a C500 (435hp). On the diesel side a C400d (286hp). That would be the first 6 cylinder diesel in a W205 since it's introduction...
(Sorry if old news, haven't read the whole thread yet).

If it's likely the W205 FL will get the new inline-6, I highly doubt it will get the same designation and power output of the S-Class.

Mercedes might choose to keep the C400 and C43 AMG designation and update their engine respectively to +/- 350hp and +/- 400hp. C500 with 435hp would be much more efficient and yet cheaper than the base C63, so unlikely to see it.

Also does anyone know why the W205 never got the 6 cylinder diesel engine ?

Wow that is great news I hope they will bring out a six cylinder diesel but wouldn't that 286PS version be a C350d? If C400d it will be with 340PS like the designation of the S-class. I am not sure about a C500 but you never know with Mercedes they full of surprises nowadays. That engine would be the sweet spot for petrol engine range. Only 41PS less than the C63 and much lighter on fuel and probably not that much slower with a 0-100 time of about 4,2sec.

C500? Would be nice, but I can't see where it would fit in the lineup. The hp and designations are about to be all over the place for different markets with all the new engines IMO. The U.S. will likely get 2 versions of the new 4-cylinder, a C250 (225hp), a C350 (299hp) and then an I6 C53 with 362-400hp. I can't see a C500 unless they plan on taking the C63 up to 550hp. I would love to see a C500 offered in the U.S. with the full luxury treatment/grille nice wheels and a fully optioned up interior as standard. Offer the C53 to people who want sportier. C500 with 395hp and the C53 with 425hp.

C400d instead of C350d doesn't surprise me, @Rolf It shows the top of the line diesel for the C klasse, so might as well be given a "big name" although it "only" has 286 hp.

Good question @Monster. I had to speculate as well. The article is from Birgit Priemer, head editor of AMS. Usually they are well informed and they are located near the source, Mercedes-Benz, in Stuttgart.

Have you heard about the lower power output level of the m264 petrol.

I think the C500 and the C53 are the same car. I hope AMG has tasked the same guy that tuned the C43 to work his magic on the new car because the C43 (in coupe form) is such a fantastic package.
