Re: US wood trim

US "Luxury models" interior wood trim is Burl Walnut. Sounds like the same thing as Wurzelnussholz.

It does sound about right.

When you get that steering wheel, we'd love to see some interior shots! :t-cheers:

As would I. But without a part number and an English speaking contact at a dealer who would order and ship it, I am at a dead end.

I slogged around in what I thought is the MB factory webpage and got no place since I do not read the language.

There is no serial number according to the salesman, you just order it. Let me see what I can do at my end. Today they're closed, Monday and Tuesday I'll be in Munich so maybe Wednesday I can go up there and see what I can do. :t-cheers:

Hi,

Things are a little hectic here. I'm doing a lot of tours for tourists at the moment. Bear with me. :t-cheers:

I need a big favor from someone in Germany who visits an MB dealer from time to time.

I would like to purchase the accessory wood trimmed steering wheel for my C300 Luxury (US term) in Cashmere Beige. The problem is that although the US dealer parts database shows the wheels in black, gray and beige, the only part number shown is for the black one. I'm sure the item exists because on the build-it-yourself website the wheel can be ordered in beige and is not kicked back, indicating to me that it exists, someplace. So, I thought that in Germany the parts database might very well show the number.

If anyone has the time and inclination to do this for me, I would be very grateful. Please send the number by email to:

relngson@aol.com

Thank You

Thanks for the data. Unfortunately the Cashmere Beige is not mentioned which means, like the US, it's not available in the UK.

Luckily for me Christian Wimmer has located a source for me in Germany, direct from some MB special department, ordered through a dealer. I am waiting for an answer from them now.

Hi RLE,

Has Mr. Drews replied? :t-cheers:

I'll be in Geneva from March 13 - 15 and possibly stay in Switzerland a few days longer because I'll be most likely visiting my sister. Keep me updated and if you need help with anything let me know. I will gladly talk to the guys up at MB if you need me to. :usa7uh:

I sent him an email last week and so far, no reply.

Do we have a happy ending to this thread?
I am looking for exactly the same part as the OP. Would be happy to order from the salesman that Carwimmer recommended, if the OP got his steering wheel.

This is a dead issue. After considerable research and effort on Wimmer's part, it has become clear that the wheel is manufactured only in black.

BUT, there is hope. I have been in contact with Performance Products in California (big online and catalog outfit) who tell me that they will have this wheel available soon in beige. I have been in touch with them every few weeks (their suggestion) and so far that particular model has yet to arrive. They tell me that MB has changed suppliers for their OE wood wheels which has interrupted the aftermarket supply for the moment. Looks like the price is going to be somewhere around $700 which is pretty close to the German dealer price before VAT.

You could look at their website (www.performanceproducts.com] but they tell me that website updates lag availability by phone.

I will be travelling until 7/4 but will call them when I return for an update, if any.

Thanks RLE for the heads-up. Keep us posted, as I'm also very keen to order the wood/beige option.

I spoke to Performance Products today (July 17) and nothing has changed. They still haven't connected with the new MB steering wheel manufacturer.
