I don’t think so. VW used to offer “the people’s” car. Now the Passat and Golf are much more expensive than Chinese alternatives whilst too close to Mercedes, bmw and Audi in price. However VW will still have a place in the market. They have good reputation, wide dealer network and there will be a decent percentage of the population in Europe who will not buy a Chinese car.It could lead the spearhead of defense counteracting the inevitable unrelenting expansion of Chinese manufacturers in EU markets. The VAG MEB+ Entry products are simply too important to fail.
That's really cool, but it doesn't look like a VW at all; it's a product totally geared towards the apparent tastes of Chinese customers and what's trending there.Volkswagen ID.ERA REEV SUV (source: cochespias.com):

A bit surprised to see those flush exterior doorhandles.
They already stolen the secrets of how the German cars or any other brand is made in China. They all had to form a partnership with a Chinese companies when they opened business in a china in the mid 90s to early 00s. Over the years they have learnt the art of copying and now with their advanced AI they can build Chinese cars to German standards and half the costs.Mindboggingly horrible.
They say you get what you deserve, but did we honestly behave this bad???
VAG has gone full retard. The only bright spot is Lamborghini who actually are able to somehow do their own thing, have their own platforms, own engines and generally don't give a crap about VAG. All the others are completely f#cked. Well and except Skoda maybe.
It's a great way to give your company away and end up with empty hands. These joint ventures are incredibly dumb and naive. The Chinese are in control, they'll steal all secrets and afterwards will push them out of the market..
